There was joy for Switzerland in Aspen, Colorado on Sunday as Marco Odermatt stormed down the mountain to claim the super-G win in a time of 1:06.80. While the victory was celebration enough for the 28-year-old, the win ensured he would land the super-G crystal globe with one race remaining in the season. Andreas Sander and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde rounded out the podium.

Highlights: Odermatt secures super-G crystal globe with Aspen win

Marco Odermatt capped a stellar super-G season with World Cup victory in Aspen to wrap up the crystal globe.
The Swiss has been in a league of his own in the discipline this season, and he pipped Andreas Sander in Colorado on Sunday to secure a fifth super-G win of the season.
Odermatt stopped the clock in a time of 1:06.80, and only Sander could get close.
The German was 0.05 seconds behind, while Aleksander Aamodt Kilde rounded out the podium places.
Victory took Odermatt to 640 points and with only one race remaining in the season, he holds an unassailable lead over Kilde.
“It was a perfect super-G season from the first race until now,” Odermatt said. “It was just fun to ski all the time on a nice course, a cool hill for super-G.
“I really wanted to ski fast today and to secure the globe before the final is always a little bit of a relief. I can enjoy the final even more, so thankful for that.”
Odermatt had words of praise for the support team behind the scenes in the Swiss camp.
“It is a big team behind every athlete and we have such a cool team, good mates, coaches, physios, they do an incredible job,” Odermatt said. "That is the base to ski fast and really grateful for that.”
