American skier Steven Nyman has been ruled out of the 2011-12 World Cup season after sustaining an Achilles injury in training.
The American tore his left Achilles in a crash on November 8 in Colorado.
"Steven was evaluated Tuesday at the Steadman Clinic in Vail and diagnosed with a torn left achilles," said US Ski and Snowboard Association medical director Kyle Wilkens.
"He will miss the remainder of the 2011-12 World Cup season."
Nyman tweeted: "Blown Achilles tendon = no ski season for me this year".
The World Cup season starts in Lake Louise, Canada, on November 26.
