Nationals’ Yunel Escobar had to leave the field during his side’s game against the New York Mets with what looked like a very bizarre wrist injury.

The third baseman attempted to stop his swing on a Noah Syndergaard pitch. However, the Cuban came a cropper, yelped in pain, chucked his bat and fell to the ground in agony.
It all looked pretty innocuous but if Escobar was expecting sympathy from the good people of Twitter then he was sorely mistaken.
Escobar can console himself in the knowledge that his side won the game – a report of which can be read below, courtesy of Reuters.
Nationals 4, Mets 3
Third baseman Danny Espinosa hit a two-out double to drive in Michael Taylor during a three-run eighth as the Washington Nationals came back to beat the New York Mets 4-3.
Center fielder Taylor had a two-run, two-out single in the eighth off reliever Bobby Parnell to tie the game at 3-3 before Espinosa then came through with the game-winner.
Matt Thornton (1-0), who pitched a scoreless eighth got the win, while Drew Storen got his 29th save with a perfect ninth.
