Germany's Benedikt Doll revelled in finding the best form of his career to take sprint victory at Oberhof.
Doll won the delayed 10km dash in a time of 24 minutes 12.2 seconds, shooting clean in the prone stage and overcoming a penalty in the standing stage to claim gold.
It is the 33-year-old's second victory of the season and the first time that Doll has won two World Cups in a single campaign since his circuit debut more than a decade ago.
"It feels really good," said Doll.
"Of course, the weather could be a little bit better but the fans gave me really big support and made it a lot of fun to win here."
World Cup leader Johannes Thingnes Boe had an off day on the range with misses in prone and standing seeing him miss the medals in fourth.
His team-mates Sturla Holm Laegreid and Endre Stroemsheim ensured Norwegian representation on the podium, taking silver and bronze respectively.
