Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer were over half a second quicker than their nearest competitors, Olympic champions Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schuller
World champions Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer claimed the season-opening 2-man bobsleigh World Cup in Yanqing.
The German duo finished 0.62 seconds ahead of their compatriots Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schuller with Michael Vogt and Sandro Michel of Switzerland rounding out the podium.
Lochner and Fleischhauer put in the fastest times across both runs with their slower second run still 0.04 seconds faster than anyone else's attempt around the Beijing Olympic track.
Friedrich and Schuller, who claimed Olympic gold at the same venue in 2022, were second after both runs while Vogt and Sandro recovered from the seventh-fastest start on the second lap to keep their place in third.
Italy's Patrick Baumgartner recorded his best-ever World Cup finish with fourth place as he and push athlete Robert Mircea produced the same time of 1:00.09 across both runs.
They benefitted from a poor second run for Cédric Follador and Dominik Hufschmid, who dropped from fourth to 10th, going 0.38 seconds slower on their second attempt.
