Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price has pulled out of Saturday’s comeback fight with a virus. Price was due to face 6ft 9” Russian Evengy Orlov in Neubrandenberg, Germany.
His new promoter, Kalle Sauerland, said: “It is unfortunate but these things happen and one has to act responsibly. This is a minor setback and has no effect on our plans for Pricey. He will be back in the ring at the beginning of the New Year.”
Price, now trained by Adam Booth of Hayemaker Boxing, said: “Obviously I am disappointed. I was looking forward to my first fight back but I wouldn’t be doing myself or my fans justice by taking the fight when I am anything less than 100%”
The card in Neubrandenberg is headlined by Juergen Braehmer (41-2), who faces Marcus Oliveira (25-0-1) for the vacant WBA light heavyweight title, and features Russian heavy Kubrat Pulev (18-0) and German light middle Jack Culcay (15-1).
