Canada swept to World Curling Championship glory on home ice by defeating reigning champions Switzerland 7-5.
The Swiss led 5-4 going into the ninth end but Canadian skip Rachel Homan judged a split on the front end perfectly for three to open up what would prove to be an unassailable advantage, the Swiss running out of stones on the final end.
"It was a line we hadn't seen yet," said Homan. "Unbelievable sweep on that split for three, that was the game right there. I'm just so proud of my team. Just a phenomenal team shot.
"I can't describe the feeling. The work we put in and the success we had to finish up the season (like this) means everything to us.
"They (Switzerland) were phenomenal. It's amazing to be able to beat them. They've had an amazing run and will be here for a long time."
Canada were backed by 4,373 fans in the final following a dominant competition which saw them win 11 of their 12 round-robin matches before seeing off Korea in the semi-finals.
