The Swiss pair of Jenny Perret and Martin Rios sealed a silver medal last time out in Omaha and despite racing into a 2-0 lead, couldn't hold off Kadriana Sahaidak and Colton Lott's challenge.
The Canadian duo rallied by throwing two stones in the house in the second, third, sixth and seventh ends to clinch an 8-7 victory.
Meanwhile, Norwegian second leg gold medallists Kristen Skaslien and Thomas Ulsrud beat American siblings Becca and Matt Hamilton 8-5 in a comfortable victory.
2016 World Mixed Curling Championships gold medallist Daniil Goriachev and teammate Maria Komarova of Russia triumphed 6-4 against China after a late rally in the seventh end.
And hosts Sweden came from behind to beat Korea 9-7 by notching up four stones in the final two ends.
