Germany couldn't make it two bronze medals in a night at the European Curling Championship as their women did the business against Russia, but the men fell to Italy in their third-place match-up.

The women's rink, led by Daniela Jentsch, won their first European medal since 2009 as they came from behind to down their opponents 7-4.
Russia took two points in the first end, but several well-placed draw shots from Jentsch gave Germany a three-point third and a two-point eighth, paving the way for a victory that delighted the 36-year-old.
"European bronze medallist? it sounds fantastic," she said. "We had our ‘A' game there and I think we deserved the win. I am super happy, I can't be happier. I didn't think we would win a medal here this week.
I think this is just what we needed, we needed this break-through, we've been struggling for many years and we've had some bad results due to bad luck.
The final will be played tomorrow, contested between Switzerland and Sweden – semi-final conquerors of Germany and Russia respectively earlier on in the day.
In the men's competition it was Italy who prevailed against their German opponents to win a first European medal since 1979.
Skip Joel Retornaz got the scoreboard ticking when he hit an opponent's stone to seal two points in the opening end.

And despite Germany drawing level in the second, Italy raced into a four-point lead, which – to the relief of Retornaz – proved too much for their opponents.
"I have been around for a few years now and this is my first medal in the A-Division," he said.
I am really proud of what we achieved for our country – for everybody watching and for ourselves of course, because the team performed very well through the whole competition.
"We are really happy to have a medal around our neck. Everybody was always speaking about that [1979 bronze] medal and we said, we have got to win something so people can talk about another medal now."
