Eve Muirhead's quest for ninth consecutive European curling medal is underway - with the defending champion banking a morale-boosting win.
After a summer on the sidelines with injury, followed by wholesale changes to her rink, the pressure is on the 2014 Olympic bronze medallist in Estonia.
But confident 7-4 win over Denmark was just what was needed to settle the nerves.
"As a team we came out really sharp and played the scoreboard well," she said.
"For Jen (third player Jennifer Dodds) that was her first European appearance, so it was nice for her to get off with a win.
"I'm pleased. Denmark used to be a team I could never beat. I had never beaten them up until the Worlds in 2010, but they're always strong and for us to get off to a strong start was pretty crucial."
Sweden's reigning Olympic champions, led by Anna Hasselborg, beat the Czech Republic 6-5 while there were also wins for Russia, Finland and Switzerland.
