Welcome to live coverage of the final Classic of the season - the oldest one in the calendar, Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Known as 'La Doyenne', this is the last of three Ardennes Classics, and takes the riders on an undulating 261.5km route from Liege to Ans in Belgium, a route which features almost 5,000 vertical metres of climbing.

Hesjedal has been caught. Martin is there, with Scarponi and Betancur. Gilbert, Valverde and Nibali in pursuit.

Just as he did in the Fleche, Betancur goes for broke. And the Colombian has Hesjedal in his sights.

Crash for Daniel Moreno, who has to twist his handlebars back before continuing on his way. That's his race over.

Grivko calls it a day as he peels back. Hesjedal is now on the steep part of the narrow climb. He has 15 seconds, but Astana are in pursuit. Gilbert tucked in in third place.

Big right-hander for the pack, with Katusha and Astana on the front. Hesjedal drives on in time trial mode. He's just about to start the Côte de Saint-Nicolas – 1.2km at 8.6%.

The Uran-Contador chasing group has been swept up by the pack. Hesjedal has 21 seconds but still has to get up the Saint-Nicolas.

It will all come down to the last climb for the 2012 Giro d'Italia champion. He has 16 seconds over the pack though - which will not be enough, surely.

Now Uran ups the pace in the chase group and opens up a small gap. Meanwhile, Andy Schleck is off the back of the pack.

Hesjedal has 10 seconds on the chasing group and another 10 seconds on the pack. The five chasers are Uran, Caruso, Contador, Costa and Anton - so Contador is still there. Back with the pack, it's Grivko leading the chase for Astana.
