So, that's a fourth stage win for Mark Cavendish, who cements his lead at the top of the green jersey standings - now it's just a question of whether or not he can keep it on the Champs Elysees.

Renshaw launches his man and Cavendish rides to victory ahead of Farrar, Petacchi and Oss. Rojas takes fifth and Swift sixth.
1km
Renshaw has Cavendish on his wheel...
1.5km
Roux is still right there, one off the font. Geraint Thomas of Sky moves forward, followed by Swift and Boasson Hagen.
2km
It's Anthony Roux of FDJ. But the three give up. Lampre are now on the front.
2.5km
Gilbert attacked on a slight rise and has taken a FDJ rider with him. They pass Terpstra. And are joined by Thomas De Gendt of Vacancoleil.

Now the jostle for positions starts on the front of the bunch... just as there's an attack from Gilbert!
4km
A massive cheer greets Terpstra as he turns a bend into a wide street. He has just eight seconds now, with Garmin right on the front now.
5km
The town planners of Montpellier are clearly from the roundabout school of thought. Terpstra, on his own, has increased the lead: it's now 13 seconds. Good going from the Quick Stepper. Ignatiev is already off the back.
6km
Less than 10 seconds now - and Ignatiev's so-near-yet-so-far tendencies continue... The Russian gives up and Terpstra continues on his own.
7km
The outskirts of Montpellier - like many French towns - is pretty grim. Tony Martin is on the front of the HTC train. He'll be looking forward to the time trial in Grenoble next Saturday.
8km
Our two leaders are not giving up, but their lead is just 16 seconds now and soon they will have them in their sights.
10km
The peloton is really strung out at the back as Garmin come to the front too, working for their men Tyler Farrar and Thor Hushovd.
11km
The gap sinks below 30 seconds. Eurosport's David Harmon is backing Edvald Boasson Hagen today, Sean Kelly is going for Andre Greipel, and Carlton Kirby - ever the safe better - is going for Mark Cavendish.
13km
HTC form their train as they continue the chase. They need to cut a 35-second deficit now, with the experienced Ignatiev and Terpstra - Little and Large - pulling hard on the front of the race.

The three French chasers - Dumoulin, Delage and Delaplace - are all swept up by the bunch. Les carottes sont cuites. In Dumoulin's case, completely: the little rouleur is right off the back of the bunch and has thrown in the towel for the day. He'll finish eight minutes down now in all likelihood.
17km
It's going to be nigh-on impossible for Ignatiev and Terpstra to stay out ahead, surely... 45 seconds at the latest check.
20km
Terpstra reaches Ignatiev and it looks like it's game over for the other three. The duo have 14 seconds on their fellow escapees, with the peloton just another 40 seconds back.

ATTACK: Ignatiev makes the first move as the lead drops to 50 seconds. Only Terpstra can follow for the time being.

Movistar's Andrey Amador, the Lanterne Rouge of the race, is rather aptly right on the back of the peloton. The lead is just 1:02 now for the five leaders.
