Wow, the peloton is strung out massively: about 300m tip to toe. The Cofidis group are back with the peloton, but way down on the tail end.

Now it's Katusha driving the pace for their man Galimzyanov. Vacansoleil are there too: they have Bozic, Feillu and De Gendt for the sprint.

Delage and Gutierrez are caught. Game on for the bunch sprint preparations...

After the stage one debacle, all the favourites will hope to keep out of trouble and avoid any potential pile ups. But that will just make the general atmosphere of the peloton all the more nervous...

Bad scrabble score Taaramae now has four Cofidis team-mates pacing him back to the peloton. The two leaders have just 15 seconds and will be caught very soon.

Front puncture for Rein Taaramae! He's changing wheels with Leonardo Duque, but he will have a real fight to get back onto the front of the peloton now. Terrible timing for the Estonian.

Quick Step's Jerome Pineau drops back to talk to the team car. They'll eye a win for Boonen, Ciolek or Steegmans today.
