Hello and welcome to live coverage of stage eight of the Tour de France - a mountainous 184km schlep from Pau to Bagneres-de-Luchon in the high Pyrenees. On the agenda - four back-to-back climbs including the fearsome Col du Tourmalet.

Confirmation that Froome will move into the yellow jersey - he leads Adam Yates and Joaquim Rodriguez by 16 seconds on GC. What a day on the Tour!

The day belongs to Chris Froome and Team Sky - and Great Britain, who now have five stage wins from eight in this Tour.

It was Dan Martin (Etixx-QuickStep) who took second place ahead of Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha). They were followed by Bardet, Aru and Kreuziger.

The chasing group come over the line about 13 seconds down but they can't stop the yellow jersey going to Froome in Bagneres-de-Luchon.

Both arms goes up and then Froome punches the air with his right arm - it's a stage win and the yellow jersey for the defending champion.

"He has the face of a choir boy and the mind of an assassin," says Carlton Kirby as Froome approaches the finish line...

Under the flamme rouge for Froome - and there's no puncture-related distaster today.

Aru attacks the chasing group in the hunt of some extra bonus seconds for second place.

CRASH: Pierre Rolland has taken a tumble on a bend. We didn't see it, but we can see his torn shorts. He's back up but will lose time...

Froome is taking extraordinary risks on the descent - it's terrifying to watch, especially on the hairpin bends. He has 23 seconds on the chasers and 1:23 on the Contador group. Remember, there's a 10 second time bonus for the winner today.

Movistar chase through Quintana and Valverde. They really missed a tricky there to let Froome attack on the summit. It's a chasing group of around a dozen riders. Over the top Contador was 30 seconds down and Barguil over a minute...

Froome is really going for this! He's opened up a 15-second gap and he's hunched over the frame of his bar in a bid to get aero. Could he be riding for the stage win and yellow jersey?

That was a signal of intent from Froome, who caught his rivals - especially Quintana - napping with that unexpected dig over the top. Here's a replay of the attack...

Around 14 riders arrive at the summit together in this main pack and it's Froome who powers clear to take the points - and he attacks straight away, just as Quintana takes a water bottle. He's caught him out with that unexpected dig!

Bardet attacks! Quintana has it covered and then Froome and Henao come back to the front. Rodriguez is back here again, and Aru. Mollema, Porte, TVG and Valverde as well. But Contador is with Rolland and Thomas about 20 seconds back.

There's a regrouping near the summit - and Meitjes, Kreuziger, Yates and Bardet are back there. One kilometre to the summit...

Valverde came to the front for a stint and then Froome put in a big dig to cause a selection. Martin, Quintana, Porte, Van Garderen and Mollema are there, as is Henao. But Rolland, Aru, Contador, Kreuziger, Bardet have been dropped.

ATTACK: Sergio Henao attacks! The Colombian makes the first move and forces an early selection on the climb. Movistar react, as does Dan Martin. But that has spelled the end for Barguil, Van den Broeck, Schleck and Kangert...

Warren Barguil (Giant Alpecin) is just about holding on but he won't last much longer.
