CARLOS RODRIGUEZ: KWIATKOWSKI HELPED IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE
"Not only Kwiato’s victory [inspired me] but also his work. He dropped [from the break], came back and went to the car three times to get us bottles in ten minutes. It was incredible. It’s details that make the difference. That’s how we accomplished this victory.”

CARLOS RODRIGUEZ: I TOOK SOME RISKS ON THE DESCENT
"I just focussed on doing the best climb I could, going at my own rhythm, and doing the descent as fast as possible. They started looking at each other while I went full gas to the finish. I can descend well, and I wanted to take advantage. I took some risks without going to the absolute rim, because I didn’t want to crash, although I was close in a couple of corners that I thought weren’t so sharp.”

NEW GENERAL CLASSIFICATION
1. Jonas Vingegaard 57'47'28"
2. Tadej Pogacar +10"
3. Carlos Rodriguez +4'43"
4. Jai Hindley +4'44"
5. Adam Yates +5'20
So by virtue of the two remaining bonus seconds Rodriguez took at the top of the Joux Plane, he goes into third place overall, by a single second. Goodness me.

Tom Pidcock drops out of the top ten.

CARLOS RODRIGUEZ WINS STAGE 14!
22 years old and he makes it two in a row for Ineos Grenadiers. Five seconds later, Pogacar is able to hold front position to take the 6 bonus seconds. It's still a net loss for him on the stage, as Vingegaard gets the four.

FLAMME ROUGE: POGACAR TAKING IT TO THE LINE
Too fast there, as he goes wide but stays just ahead. Rodriguez is the happiest, as Adam Yates is back with them and trying to pull it back, as the metres count down fast.

5KM TO GO: POGACAR OUT OF THE PEDALS
But can't get rid of Vingegaard, as Rodriguez is on his way to the stage victory. The Spaniard has 13 seconds, according to the clock, and is looking very good for the overall podium.
16:45
8KM TO GO: YATES AND RODRIGUEZ REJOIN CONTACT WITH THE FRONT PAIR
And quickly opens up a lead on the descent. Yates is a bit off the wheel, and Pogacar will want to get back to the front. Those bonus seconds for the stage win matter even more now than they did.

10KM TO GO: (NOT QUITE) ONTO THE DESCENT
The best two bike riders in the world are wheel to wheel. There's one little opportunity, in the form of a small kicker, for someone to do something before the descent begins properly.

12KM TO GO: VINGEGAARD ATTACKS

Just the moment when Pogacar took his eye off the ball, and the yellow jersey takes the 8 seconds, for a net gain of three. That might also put him in line for the mountains jersey, I think.

12.5KM TO GO: POGACAR ATTACKS
But a combination of the motorbikes and the narrow corridor of fans prevents him from gettting past. How frustrating for him. He makes it to the front, though, and that's where he'll want to stay, but it's to the white jersey to be looking around now.

14KM TO GO: WHAT A BATTLE WE'RE WATCHING HERE!
Not to sound like an advert, but this is bike racing at it's very finest, as Jonas Vingegaard makes contact with Pogacar once more. Both take a small breather, ease off the pedals, with just 1.5km to the summit of this climb. The GC doesn't lie - there's almost nothing separating these two riders abilities.

15.6KM TO GO: BLASTOFF POGACAR
It had to have been coming. The nod to his team-mate and he opens a gap so so quickly. It's not massive, but it already matters. Whether or not he can sustain it, Pogacar has taken it to the yellow jersey. Bonus seconds at the top of this climb, remember.

16KM TO GO: YATES TAKES OVER AT THE FRONT
Kuss overboard, Rodriguez gone. Just three left now.

17KM TO GO: HINDLEY AND GALL DROPPED
This final 6km is where the Joux Plane gets really steep. Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers) stands to benefit from Hindley's decline. Adam Yates does too, but we know who he is riding for. Pogacar just dropped a bottle and Yates was right there with an extra one.

20KM TO GO: IT'S A CASE OF WHEN, NOT IF
Vingegaard will attack, the only question is: can Pogacar match him, or even out-punch the maillot jaune?

21KM TO GO: MAJKA DROPPED BY VAN AERT
Who has himself given his last, and that leaves just Kuss leading seven souls remaining at the front.

22KM TO GO: YATES, BILBAO, GAUDU, MARTIN AND GROSSCHARTNER DROPPED
So the German couldn't be much help for Pogacar, but suddenly Van Aert re-emerges at the front of the race. This is fascinating stuff.

23KM TO GO: THE COL DE JOUX PLANE

On this brute of a climb is where our GC battle is set to blow up. But how big will be the explosion? Rafal Majka comes to the front and immediately the extra pace is sufficient to drop Van Aert and Kelderman. Vingegaard now only has Kuss with him.

Sean Kelly thinks this is playing into the hands of Jumbo Visma, though.

30KM TO GO: YATES GROUP BACK TO THE FRONT
But for how long? That was Chris Harper who did that. 16 strong this bunch now, and both Pogacar and Vingegaard have three team-mates a piece.
