Inside the final km as the bunch comes together. Gilbert goes for the line!! With Tyler Farrar following but the American can't get near him and Philippe Gilbert takes the sprint win!!

The bunch ride over cobble stones and the pack begins to fracture. FDJ hit the front.
2km
Matt Goss of HTC also jumps off the front in pursuit. The pack look confused.
3km
Cataldo and Luis Sanchez with - who's this - Nicolas Roche?? attack. This could be interesting. More riders try to bridge the gap.

Everyone's out of the saddle now. And now the attacks begin to come. Gilbert is close by.
6km
More pace up front from Lampre. The pack comes back into a bunch as the speed slows slightly. But Lampre aren't happy and go again. Now, here comes that nasty hill.
8km
We are now hurtling towards the finish at Toledo. The field is becoming very strung out. Lampre at the front now. And it looks like the main pack may split before the end.

The riders appreciate a good run-in to the final slight climb is vital to any thoughts of a stage win.

My Eurosport TV colleagues fancy Philippe Gilbert for an attack before the finish. He tried the same trick yesterday without success. Footon hit the front once more.
12km
Saxo Bank now come to the front. Maybe JJ Haedo fancies going one better than yesterday's second place. Lots of teams coming to the front. The break is caught. Fresh attacks may start instantly.
15km
The lead has almost vanished in the blink of an eye. Dominik Roels, Josep Jufre, Manuel Ortega and Xavier Florencio are now a paltry 25s ahead.

The breakaway will have to decide whether to stick or twist. The gap is just over a minute with 20km to go. But with the finish anything but straight forward keeping out front may yet prove fruitful.
25km
Liquigas have Nibali safe and tucked up near the front. Mark Cavendish pokes his head out from time to time. Frank Schleck takes up position beside the Manx Missile. The gap to Dominik Roels, Josep Jufre, Manuel Ortega and Xavier Florencio is 1m 24s.

The riders have been in the saddle now for more than 5hrs which is not bad going. Footon, Liquigas, Katusha and Omega Pharma lead the chase. The gap is 2m.
35km
A slight uphill section for the peloton to navigate. It's mainly downhill until the final 6km or so. The time-check to the leaders is 2m 19s.
40km
The wind starts to blow from the left. Not much but enough to send the peloton scampering for cover across the road. The lead to the breakaway is just 2m 47s.
45km
All the main players have positioned themselves near the front of the peloton. With the tricky uphill section to come about 5km from the end, that isn't a bad idea.
50km
The pace does indeed increase. HTC at the front with the gap failing to 3m 20s.
