Hola and welcome to live coverage of Stage 7 of La Vuelta - a 207km schlep from Lliria to the historic walled town of Cuenca in east-central Spain.

The peloton comes home 8'38" down by my estimation and so Froome stays in red - but Bol will be pushing the top five.

Jetse Bol may not move into the red jersey today but he will certainly be in the top ten. The streamlined pack has another 1km to ride and the clock continues to tick. But it will need to hit 8:55 if the Dutchman is to move into the race lead...

Alessandro De Marchi took fifth, Floris De Tier fifth and Jetse Bol sixth. The rest of the escapees will arrive in dribs and drabs before the peloton come home.

And it's a second successive second place for Pawel Poljanski (Bora-Hansgrohe) who finishes ahead of Jose Joaquin Rojas (Movistar) and a frustrated Thomas De Gendt (Lotto Soudal).

Victory for Matej Mohoric of UAE Team Emirates. The 22-year-old Slovenian soloes to the biggest win of his career...

Under the flamme rouge for the Slovenian. De Gendt leads the chase but it's all in vain.

Into the town goes Mohoric and he just needs to stay up to win this stage. 12 seconds the gap now.

Still 10 seconds for our lone leader on this descent, who will ride to only his second professional win - and the biggest of his career. The 22-year-old will join Bahrain-Merida next season so this will be a worthy farewell gift for his UAE Team Emirates team.

No cohesion in this chasing group so it looks like Mohoric will solo to glory here today.

Chris Froome still has a royal guard of Sky team-mates around him as the pack crests the summit. Mohoric has 10 seconds over the De Gendt group and 20 seconds over the Bol group.

Mohoric is doing his trademark hugging-the-frame descent as he opens up a gap of five seconds over his pursuers. A bit further back we have Bol, De Marchi and De Tier.

Mohoric has now opened up a gap over the other leaders... meanwhile, the peloton is on the Alto de Castillo. The gap is down to 8'30" so Froome shouldn't lose the red jersey. But Bol will zip up the overall standings today.

Four riders out ahead: Mohoric, Rojas, De Gendt and Poljanski. They have 15 seconds on the chasers...

Rafael Reis collides with one of the race motorcycles and hits the deck. That wasn't a high-speed incident, but it was a controversial one...

Gougeard has been caught and passed by most of the escapees, while Mohoric still holds a small gap over the chasers.

We're onto the Cat.3 Alto del Castillo - a short but sharp 2km cobbled ascent with an average gradient of 7.2%.

Mohoric and Gougeard have a small gap on the break now - 10 seconds, to be precise. The climb is about to start...

Mohoric now digging in as the riders enter Cuenca ahead of the climb. The break has reformed behind him and the pace is very high. Gougeard is in pursuit as they approach the intermediate sprint.

De Marchi, Gougeard, Mate, Reyes and Mohoric have opened up a little gap on the rest of teh break... it's only small. And as the gap increases to nine minutes, Jetse Bol is now the virtual red jersey!
