JOIN US AGAIN TOMORROW
We will be back live tomorrow with coverage from the first mountain stage of this year's Vuelta, and a chance for some GC contendors to show their chops. Vos will be in red but she won't be expecting to hold onto that jersey - but there are more opportunities for her to grab another stage win later in the week.
16:18
LET'S HEAR FROM THE WINNER
"We came to try and win some stages and we’ve already won two, so we are so excited and proud of what we have accomplished so far.
"Fortunately Alison [Jackson] and I were in a good position and able to make the front group, it was a good day. I knew I wanted to do a last-minute attack, I knew that climb would be the place for other attacks so I thought I’d try and follow one. I just hopped onto wheels – it was a bit of luck but also planning I think."

STAGE 4 RESULT
1. Kristen Faulkner (EF Education-Cannondale)
2. Georgia Baker (Liv-AlUla-Jayco) +10”
3. Marianne Vos (Visma | Lease a Bike) +10''
That result is enough to put Vos into the red jersey for tomorrow.
16:07
FAULKNER WINS BY TEN SECONDS
That's EF Education-Cannondale's second stage win this week, what a tour they are having. Faulkner has finally slowed down and is smiling hugely as she meets up with Jackson for more jubilant celebrations.
16:06
FAULKNER WINS STAGE 4!
So much for the sprint finish, what a move that was for Faulkner. Jackson comes across in the bunch already celebrating for her team mate, who is still on her bike, head down, breathing heavily. That was a serious effort to stay away there.
16:05
1KM TO GO - FAULKNER'S LEAD IS CUT
She has ten seconds on the chase group as she comes under the 1KM to go banner. What a move. The sprint begins behind her, but Faulkner is gone here...
16:04
1.4KM TO GO - LEAD INCREASES
Faulkner has 17 seconds now... Surely, surely? She has a couple of roundabouts to negotiate, but Reusser is now driving the chase behind.
16:03
2KM TO GO - FAULKNER HAS 12 SECONDS
The American did her homework, she knew where that little climb was and used it to perfection. She's being helped by some indecision behind, as the rest begin to think about second place and those bonus seconds...
16:02
3.4KM TO GO - FAULKNER CLEAR OUT FRONT
Can she hold onto this? She led Jackson out on Stage 2 for the Canadian's victory. The rest of the original break are closing in on the chase group of four riders, but Faulkner is gone at the moment.
Downhill and flat to the finish, but into a headwind.
16:00
5KM TO GO - WHO IS WHERE?
Faulkner has a clear gap. Vollering, Longo Borghini, Niewiadoma and Vas are the chase group. The rest are together but further back.
15:59
5.8KM TO GO - FAULKNER ON THE ATTACK
Faulkner has gone for this, and she has managed to split the group! It's a mess right now, Faulkner is going solo, Longo Borghini is chasing hard, she has Niewiadoma with her, Vos is gapped...
15:58
6KM TO GO - VOLLERING ATTACKS
Vollering has a little go here, but Longo Borghini is wise to it and jumps onto her wheel. Nothing adoing there, as Faulkner is the next to attack. Here comes that climb...
15:55
8KM TO GO - ONE TINY CLIMB TO COME
With about 6KM to go, there is one short, steep burst - could anyone launch from that? Vos does have two team mates with her though to help her up that.
It's a headwind finish according to Dani Rowe, which means no one will want to go too early if it comes to a final sprint.
15:53
10KM TO GO - VOS THE VIRTUAL LEADER
Those bonus seconds have moved Vos into the virtual lead of the race now ahead of Vas. No one has launched an opportunistic attack off the back of that little reshuffle for the sprint though, so looks like these riders are going to the finish as a bunch.
15:52
12KM TO GO - VOS TAKES THE INTERMEDIATE SPRINT
Vos grabs six bonus seconds, Vas the red jersey wearer has put her bad back to bed as she goes for it too to grab four seconds and it looks like Longo Borghini took the last couple of bonus seconds.
15:48
14KM TO GO - GET READY FOR THE INTERMEDIATE SPRINT
The gap is 1'42'' to the chasers, they aren't coming back today. But the leaders start to jostle around as they get ready for the chance to grab some bonus seconds.
15:46
16KM TO GO - FUEL UP
Vollering takes on a gel, this is a decent day for her with a few rivals gapped in that chase group. Her real work starts tomorrow though in the mountains.
The lead group are motoring on towards that sprint, plenty of road furniture to negotiate as they hit more urban roads.
15:44
17KM TO GO - ALL CALM
The riders seem to be waiting for the intermediate sprint which isn't too far away now. Will anyone launch an attack at that point? No one will want to take Vos to the finish line, nor Jackson really.
15:41
19KM TO GO - VOS ON THE MOVE
Vos is bossing things around here, she has Riejanne Markus and Sophie von Berswordt as her team mates in this break. They all negotiate a roundabout fairly well there, no obvious time lost.
15:39
21KM TO GO - THE GAP AT 1'34''
Nearly everyone is taking a turn at the front, or at least the riders are rotating for their team leaders, not just expecting SD Worx to pull all the way to the finish.
Vos has to fancy this... but will we get any late crashes like on stage 2?
