The 2017 FIA European Rally Championship will kick off with a live television spectacular on 30 March.
Following recent confirmation of a live streaming package to include coverage of the City Show and Grupo Marques superspecial as they happen, Azores Airlines Rallye organisers have confirmed the event-opening Lagoa Stage will be broadcast live on the event’sYouTube channel.

The new arrangement has been made possible through the support of Lagoa City Hall and its Mayor, Cristina Calisto Decq Mota, and from NONAGON, the Azores archipelago’s first science and technology park, where the action will take place.

A statement from the organisers read: “This new special stage will be able to offer competitors the possibility of running on a mixed gravel/Tarmac stage, kind of an appetiser for what drivers and cars may expect over three long days of an exciting event.”

The 2.14-kilometre Lagoa Stage was used for the first time on an Azorean championship event last summer but will make its first appearance on the ERC-counting Azores Airlines Rallye this season with the live coverage due to begin at 15h21 local time on 30 March.
