Munnings has endured a frustrating start to life as a member of the Peugeot Rally Academy with a non-finish on the Azores Rallye and a non-start on Rally Islas Canarias after she had to undergo emergency surgery to remove her wisdom teeth.

Fully fit, Briton Munnings considers the high-speed gravel event in Latvia as the real starting point of her FIA European Rally Championship campaign and is counting the days to take the start alongside her Norwegian co-driver Veronica Engan.

“I love gravel and I’m constantly learning and Veronica has got loads of experience of the Latvian championship, so she knows the roads better than I do and I’m excited to go out there,” said Munnings (pictured left with Engan).

Despite her partnership with Engan still being in its infancy, Munnings said they made considerable progress together ahead of their aborted Rally Islas Canarias entry.

“We have a system that’s definitely going to transfer to the next rallies [and our training together before Rally Islas Canarias] was good team building for us,” she explained. “It will be great to get some more experience on gravel, the season starts in Latvia for us and we need to focus on the positive vibes.”
