Tom Kristensson says his participation on Barum Czech Rally Zlín has been made possible by the efforts of his “amazing” ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team.
Swede Kristensson, an ERC Junior Under 27 Championship podium finisher, crashed heavily on ADAC Rallye Deutschland last week, inflicting substantial damage to his Opel ADAM R2 to the extent he feared he would be a non-starter in Czech Republic this week.

But hasty repair work by his Holzer Motorsport-run team will ensure he will line up for the sealed-surface showcase from 24-26 August.

“When it was clear the chassis was 100 per cent destroyed it was coming up in my mind [I would not make the start in Zlín],” said Kristensson. “But then my team said for they will fix it. They have started from zero and fitted all this new stuff. It’s unbelievable because [the car] looks 100 per cent good.”

Kristensson, last year’s ADAC Opel Rallye Cup winner in Germany, has yet to win in ERC Junior U27 but registered his maiden podium in Italy last time out.

“I have a good feeling for this rally,” he said. “It’s really demanding and very fast but I was on a really good pace on [ADAC Rallye Deutschland] and that will be my focus this week: to find the right rhythm and be on the pace again.”
