Namibia coach Ricardo Mannetti: "It will be a difficult meeting, we do not take into account their defeats in friendly matches, because we will play against one of the tournament favourites." Morocco ran out 5-1 winners when the sides met back in the 2008 AFCON competition.
    15:20
Morocco coach Herve Renard: "The first match is always difficult because all the teams start with a great motivation. We must expect a tough meeting and it is up to us to make it easy." Renard has already won AFCON titles with Zambia and Ivory Coast in 2012 and 2015 respectively.

Namibia are making just their third appearance at the AFCON, last playing in the 2008 competition when they failed to progress beyond the group stages. In fact, Southern Africans have never made it to knockout stages but with the expanded format of this year's competition allowing a number of third-placed finishers through, they will be determined to cause an upset this time round.
    15:10
Dortmund's Achraf Hakimi, their captain and former Juvenus defender Medhi Benatia and young CD Leganes striker Youssef En-Nesyri are just some of Morocco's standout players. And you feel they will have a point to prove, having been knocked out of the World Cup last year in the group stages.

With the likes of Ajax forward Hakim Ziyech - linked with a string of Premier League clubs - in their ranks, Morocco are amongst the favourites to win the competition. Their coach Herve Renard is searching for his third Africa Cup of Nations trophy but the Atlas Nations suffered back-to-back defeats in their build-up to the competition - to Gambia and Zambia. Having been placed in the 'Group of Death' with Ivory Coast and South Africa, Morocco must make a fast start.
