Benin qualified to the knockout stages for the first time in their history - without winning a game. Three draws was enough to secure them the most successful third place team before they stunned Morocco on penalties.

Mane has been the talisman for Senegal, netting three of his side's six goals, but the Lions of Teranga have been equally formidable in defence, conceding just once along the way. Senegal boss Aliou Cisse has admitted his team's confidence has grown with the departure of some of the competition's big favourites. "Of course, it gives us ideas and it gives us even more confidence to say yes, maybe this year will be one," he said. But he added: "Like I said, that's just hope and it won't be enough. We'll have to work very hard, we'll have to be serious, and that is what we're doing."

With the hosts Egypt out of the tournament, as well as defending champions Cameroon and Morocco, Senegal have rarely had a better opportunity to land their first ever Africa Cup of Nations title. Benin have yet to win a game in this year's competition, but having drawn with Ghana and Cameroon, before knocking out Morocco on penalties, they must not be underestimated.
