Guinea will be pleased with these first 20 minutes or so, having limited Ivory Coast to just the one chance. They would certainly take this result come the end of the 90 minutes, I'm sure.
19'
Play is just starting to become a little more stretched since that chance... Ivory Coast have realised if they run at this defence then they can cause it some problems.

Has that chance woken Ivory Coast up into action? Let's hope so. It was a great driving run from Gervinho.

We have our first chance of the game and it falls to Ivory Coast as Gervinho bursts forward before picking out Bony, whose shot deflects back into the path of Gervinho, before the Roma man's stinging shot is tipped onto the bar by Yattara.

Not the greatest of starts to this game with little in the way of action to report on apart from a few corners... Let's hope it picks up soon.
15'
Ivory Coast win a first corner, but the delivery is poor and Guinea are able to clear the danger with ease.

Ivory Coast, meanwhile, have yet to really wake up. You do feel, though, that once they start to turn it on then they might be able to punish this Guinea defence.

Guinea have managed to get into some dangerous areas a few times already, but on each occasion their final ball is letting them down and the move soon comes to an end.
11'
Traore is looking a threat for Guinea, this time storming down the right past Kanon, however, his cross into the box is poor and sails out for a goal kick.

A first real attack for Ivory Coast as Kalou comes forward and picks out Gervinho. The Roma man tries to find Yaya Toure in the box, but his pass is intercepted.

Guinea win another corner - this time Fofana gets his head on the delivery but he sends his effort well over the bar.
7'
Guinea will certainly be pleased with this start, having already put their opponents under pressure by winning a corner, although that came to little.
5'
Ivory Coast are well represented in the Estadio de Malabo, with their supporters having a right good time of it at the moment. I'm sure they may go pretty wild if they see their side find the back of the net today...

It is Guinea who have started the brighter, looking particularly dangerous down the right-hand side. Ivory Coast are still yet to string more than a few passes together...
3'
While Ivory Coast will obviously fancy their chances in this one, they have only won two of their last seven matches... Can Guinea pounce, I wonder?
2'
We've played just one minute and already we've needed a change of ball... Let's hope this one will do the trick for the next 89 minutes.

Following a minute's silence for those that have lost their lives in the Ebola crisis, Guinea get this Group D opener under way...
15:55
Both teams are now out onto the Estadio de Malabo pitch and the national anthems have been sung with real passion... Kick-off is just moments away.
15:50
These two sides have met once in the African Cup of Nations before, with Ivory Coast coming out on top and seeing off Guinea 5-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the competition back in 2008. Salomon Kalou, who starts today, scored a brace in that quarter-final clash.
15:45
This clash, then, kicks off Group D, with Mali and Cameroon taking on each other a little later... Ivory Coast come into this tournament ranked by many as favourites, although they have not lifted the African Cup of Nations trophy since 1992. Guinea, meanwhile, face a challenge to get out of the group stage, but will take heart from having reached the quarter-finals in 2008.
