Good afternoon, football fans. This afternoon we bring to you live text commentary of the opening match of the African Cup of Nations which sees hosts Gabon taking on minnows Guinea-Bissau at Stade d'Angondjé. ‘The Panthers’ are hosting the competition for the second time in five years and will hope to do better than their quarter-final appearance in 2012. The visitors – and massive underdogs - are competing in their first ever AFCON but their record in qualifying suggests they could more than a match for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his team mates.

Fantastic turn of pace from Guinea-Bissau's substitute Piqueti as he bursts down the channel, cuts inside and fires a shot at goal but sees his effort blocked.
