Emma Hayes will become the new US Women's head coach when the 2023-24 WSL season ends in May. Chelsea announced earlier this month that Hayes would leave the club at the end of the current domestic campaign as speculation mounted the 47-year-old was set to take charge of the American national team. Hayes has won 13 trophies since she joined The Blues in 2012.

Chelsea boss Emma Hayes has been confirmed as the new manager of the United States women’s national team and will start her new role at the conclusion of this season’s Women's Super League.
The Blues announced earlier this month that Hayes would step down at the end of the 2023-24 campaign to take on a fresh challenge having joined Chelsea in 2012.
The 47-year-old described it as a “dream come true” to be given the opportunity to lead the US national team.
“This is a huge honour to be given the opportunity to coach the most incredible team in world football history,” Hayes said.
“The feelings and connection I have for this team and for this country run deep.
“I've dreamed about coaching the USA for a long time so to get this opportunity is a dream come true.
“I know there is work to do to achieve our goals of winning consistently at the highest levels. To get there, it will require dedication, devotion and collaboration from the players, staff and everyone at the US Soccer Federation.”
Hayes began her coaching career in the US before going on to win 13 major trophies since joining the WSL more than a decade ago.
The one trophy that has eluded her is the UEFA Women’s Champions League and she admitted it would be a “fairytale” to add that to her Chelsea roll of honour.
Hayes has won the WSL on six occasions with Chelsea, as well as five FA Cups and two League Cups.
She will become the highest-paid women's coach in the world when she leaves the London club, with the season finishing on May 18 and the Champions League final set for May 25.
The US are looking to bounce back from a World Cup exit in the last 16 earlier this year and US Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone spoke of what Hayes will bring to the national team when she begins her tenure next year.
“Emma is a fantastic leader and world-class coach who sets high standards for herself and for everyone around her,” she said.
“She has tremendous energy and an insatiable will to win.
“Her experience in the USA, her understanding of our soccer landscape and her appreciation of what it means to coach this team makes her a natural fit for this role and we could not be more pleased to have her leading our Women's national team forward.”
Hayes' focus will now switch back to the Champions League, with Chelsea in Spain to take on Real Madrid - a game live on TNT Sports.
