The momentum is back with Bremen, who have been by far the better side so far. They fully deserve their lead. The pressure is all on Schalke now, but with just two in their last eight games, where are the goals going to come from?

GOAL! Schalke 0-1 Werder Bremen (Bittencourt): What a beautiful strike by Bittencourt! Todibo is closed down by Klaassen in midfield, Rashica rolls it Bittencourt, who from 25 yards, smashes the ball past Nubel into the top right hand corner for his fourth goal of the season.

There's a bit more purpose about Schalke now after a dreadful opening 20 minutes. Now Kenny bursts down the right flank but the Everton loanee shanks his cross out play.

McKennie makes a trademark run from deep with the intention of latching onto a neat through ball from the left but there's just too much zip on the pass and Pavlenka is off his line quickly to gather for Bremen.

I wonder how this will age...

Yellow card! Todibo will be walking on egg shells for the remainder of the game after being a booking. The Schalke defender pushed Osako. The resulting free-kick delivery was curled straight into the arms of Nubel, though.

Signs of promise from Schalke in recent moments. They aren't sitting just as deep as they once were and enjoying just a little more possession now.

Schalke finally work a nice move down the left flank as Caligiuri finds space to dig out a cross into the penalty area but Klaassen is there to head the danger clear for Bremen.

Yellow card! For a moment Bremen are caught out in the centre of the park and McKennie, who seems like the only player in Royal Blue with the capability to inject energy in midfield, is brought down on the counter-attack. He wins a free-kick with the perpetrator Langkamp going into the book.

Schalke have been second to every ball and for some time now they haven't been able to get out of their own half. Bremen dictating the pace and tempo of the contest and although they have yet to create a clear cut opportunity, it seems inevitable they will open up Schalke sooner rather than later.
17'
More incompetence from Schalke's midfield as they concede possession in a central area and then a free-kick. It has been a shambles from Wagner's men so far.
15'
Bremen's pressure is almost relentless but playing deep in his own half home striker Gregoritsch buys Schalke some breathing space by winning a free-kick.
13'
In fact, Bremen have had 80 per cent of the possession so far. That's quite an incredible stat, considering Schalke are the home team. Klaassen tries his luck from distance now but it takes a deflection off Sane and the shot sits up nicely for Nubel to make his first save of the afternoon.
10'
Bremen continue to dominate the possession but it has been a cagey enough start. The first goal could prove pivotal.
8'
Schalke are keen to impose themselves on the opposition early on here, as Caliguiri catches Raschica with a rather hefty challenge. It prompts anger on the Bremen bench, with the fourth official getting the brunt of their frustration.
6'
Bremen force a couple of quick-fire corners as they apply the early pressure on the hosts. The most threatening delivery sees Gregoritsch climb above his own goalkeeper to head clear.
4'
Vogt, who is only back from injury, is back on his feet but he continues to limp. Bremen will monitor the situation closely for the next few minutes.

Yellow card! Ouch! Bremen's Vogt is wincing in pain after a late and high tackle from Gregoritsch, who is deservedly booked. It's unclear if he can continue at this point.
