And that's full-time!
Paderborn are good value for a point, while Leipzig are left to ponder missed chances. Werner put in a faultless effort up top on his own for 45 minutes but was guilty of missing a couple of decent opportunities.
Leipzig miss the chance to strengthen their grip on a Champions League place and while this was a creditable draw for Paderborn, it is likely to have much of an effect on their chances of survival.
- GoalChristian StrohdiekSC Paderborn
Paderborn have done it! The corner is cleared as far as Ritter, who shoots and forces a save from Gulsasci. The skipper Strohdiek is there to blast it into the back of the net and salvage a point!
We're into four added minutes as Paderborn win a late corner...
Will that be Paderborn's last chance? The ball falls kindly into Zolinski's path but he tamely shoots wide when he could easily have tested Gulasci with a more powerful effort.
OFF THE BAR!
Angelino wins it high up the pitch and feeds Werner. He shifts it onto his left foot and shoots but it clips the bar on the way over. So close to a goal he would richly deserve.
Should that be a penalty to Paderborn?! Evans, who has only been on the pitch for a couple of minutes, puts in a brilliant ball to the back post towards Antwi-Adjei (again). He goes down under a clumsy challenge from Adams but the referee doesn't blow up. The remonstrations continue but to no avail...
Antwi-Adjei has been the Paderborn player most likely to trouble Leipzig all game long and he almost finds an equaliser here as he tries to catch out Gulasci at the near post. Once again, his shot is just the wrong side of the post and goes into the side netting.
Paderborn's approach here isn't doing them any favours. They keep putting in rash challenges, allowing Leipzig to get a few more bodies forward and take their time over the free kicks they are winning.
There's under 15 minutes left now and the Leipzig defence is standing firm. Paderborn are trying manfully but can't seem to make the vital difference they need to get back on level terms.
A great effort from Paderborn. Antwi-Adjei leaves Mukiele for dead with a fantastic first touch off his chest and a brilliantly-struck shot hits the side-netting.
That should be 2-0. Leipzig clear their lines, leaving Werner to hassle the Paderborn defence and it almost works. Collins plays a terrible back pass, which Werner beats Zingerle to, nutmegging the keeper for good measure. When it comes to applying the finish from a tight angle, he fluffs his lines and sends it wide.
- OffDani OlmoRB Leipzig
- OnKonrad LaimerRB Leipzig
Another conservative substitute from Leipzig as Olmo is replaced by Laimer. It's hard to see them going for a second goal if they keep withdrawing creative players.
- OffStreli MambaSC Paderborn
- OnSven MichelSC Paderborn
Paderborn almost make the dream substitute, with Michel coming on and almost making an immediate impact down the left, but his square ball looking for an attacker is cleared easily.
- Yellow cardChristian StrohdiekSC Paderborn
A fourth Paderborn player has bhis name taken as Strohdiek cynically pulls down Werner as the striker looked to burst into the visitors' half. They ought to be careful, or they could lose their man advantage.
Save of the match so far! The corner falls kindly into the path of Dani Olmo, who puts in a ferocious shot which looks to be heading into (and possibly breaking) the bottom corner of the net, but Zingerle gets down brilliantly and parries it away. Paderborn scrambe it clear.
Olmo plays a fantastic ball to Tyler Adams, who tries to square it to Werner for a tap-in but a fantastic challenge from Strohdiek puts it behind for a corner.
- OffChristopher NkunkuRB Leipzig
- OnAmadou HaidaraRB Leipzig
Leipzig certainly seem to be playing a more conservative game now. Nkunku, who was involved in so many good moments in the first half, has been withdrawn, with Haidara coming on.
Proger plays a wicked free kick into that uncertain area between cross and shot that goalkeepers hate so much, forcing Gulasci into a sprawling save. The flag had gone up, however and there won't be a Paderrborn corner.
Timo Werner, you can't do that.
He's cutting a lonely figure up top so far this half but when the ball comes to him he turns on the after-burners but is soon surrounded. He almost picks out Olmo, arriving in late support at the far post, but overplays it. He ran half the pitch there and left Collins in a heap.
Paderborn have certainly been boosted by Upamecano's departure from the field. They've been on the front foot so far, dominating possession but so far Gulasci has been pretty untroubled, save a tame shot from Vasiliadis.
- OffPatrik SchickRB Leipzig
- OnMarcel HalstenbergRB Leipzig
And we're back! The second half is under way and it's Patrick Schick who is sacrificed for Halstenberg, despite his goal separating the two teams as it stands.
The teams are back out on the pitch and we're almost ready to go for the second half. Halstenberg is warming up for Leipzig - could he be coming on to shore up Leipzig's defence?
- End of 1st Half
And that's half-time!
Were it not for the foolish actions of Upamecano in picking up a silly second yellow card, Leipzig would be pretty confident of going on to win this game fairly comfortable. But as it is, Paderborn may be able to find a way back into it.
Vasiliadis tries his luck from distance and it's a brilliant effort, just slightly too high and it's a goal kick to Leipzig.
- Red cardDayot UpamecanoRB Leipzig
UPAMECANO IS OFF!
Oh dear, oh dear. Having picked up a very necessary booking earlier on, Upamecano gets a second yellow for an act of petulance. The Frenchman is frustrated after a fould is given against him and kicks the ball away. The referee doesn't hesitate in bringing out a second yellow card. Game on...
Antwi-Adjej has had a decent game so far. He gets Mukiele in a tangle again as he tries to get back in behind. The Ghanaian could have won a penalty there with a very stray leg but Mukiele eventually makes the tackle.
As we approach half-time, we must consider whether Leipzig will be happy with their efforts so far. They've only got the one goal but have been far, far better than Paderborn. Should they be out of sight by now?
Leipzig work the corner short but Angelino eventually buts it in the mixer. Mukiele throws himself at it and looks to have doubled the lead but Antwi-Adjej sticks out a boot to deflect it over.
As time has gone on, Nkunku, Werner and Schick are becoming more and more influential. This time, Werner tries to play in Schick at the back post but Paderborn scramble it behind.
- Yellow cardUwe HünemeierSC Paderborn
Hunemeier gets his name taken for a very rough challenge on Olmo on the Leipzig right.
- GoalPatrik SchickRB Leipzig
Leipzig have the breakthrough and it's Schick with the finish. Werner gets in behind (narrowly beating the offside trap), before playing a reverse pass into the path of Schick, who makes no mistake with the finish. A fine move and a deserved lead!
Gjasula tries his luck from distance but slices it and it goes behind for a goal kick.
Deflected! It's a good free kick from Schick but it comes off a player in the wall and goes over. The corner is taken short and Leipzig briefly threaten but Paderborn clear their lines.
- Yellow cardKlaus GjasulaSC Paderborn
Booking! It's a familiar player who has had his name taken - Gjasula. It's his 16th Bundesliga booking this term, which equals a record. meanwhile, Schick stands over a free kick in a threatening position.
Another chance for Werner!
Angelino plays a fine ball into the path of Werner in the left-hand channel. The striker turns on the pace but delays his shot for a just a little too long, allowing Hunemeier to get in and make the block.
- Yellow cardDayot UpamecanoRB Leipzig
We've had our first caution of the match and it's Upamecano who goes in the book. Srbeny gets in behind and is clear of the French defender, whose sprawling attempt at a tackle brings down the attacker in a threatening area. A deserved booking.
Paderborn threaten for the first time in this match but that's a pretty liberal use of the word. Mukiele plays an appalling pass to a team-mate, which bounces straight into the path of Srbeny, who sends a very team shot into the hands of Gulacsi.
Leipzig threaten to find an opener once more. Nkunku cuts inside from the left and looks to curl one into the far corner. It takes an awkward bounce right in front Zingerle but not enough to stop him from making a comfortable save. It didn't have enough power to truly trouble a keeper at this level.
It's quite clear already what the two teams' plans are. Leipzig are looking to get forward at any opportunity, with Upamecano particularly happy to step out from his defensive position. When Leipzig give the ball away, Paderborn try to break quickly. There's momentary danger for the hosts when Antwi-Adjei collects the ball on the left in ample space but a heavy touch lets Leipzig make the clearance.
SAVE! We've had our first attack of the day and it's a beautiful move. Olmo is at the heart of it, playing some slick one-touch passing before eventually squaring it for the unmarked Werner, whose shot is scuffed and deflected into the path of Zingerle.
- 1st Half
And we're off!
Paderborn play out from the back almost immediately and Zingerle is put under pressure, but clears before there's too much danger.
We're just seconds away from kick off now. Can Leipzig tighten their grip on a Champions League spot? Will Paderborn give their relegation hopes a surprise boost? The teams are out and it's almost time...
Paderborn shipped six goals in one half last time out but their defence was decidedly tighter in the early stages after the restart... what damage will Timo Werner do this weekend?
