Bayern Munich went top of the Bundesliga with a 4-2 win over Heidenheim over Saturday as Harry Kane scored twice.
The 30-year-old England captain now has 17 goals for the current season, and he also scored a hat-trick in his last two league matches.
Kane now has the record for most goals scored after 11 games, breaking former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowksi’s record of 16, set in 2019.
Bayern have a single-point advantage over Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, who play Union Berlin on Sunday afternoon and could go back in front with a win.
Leroy Sane was in impressive form once again as he set up Kane for both of his goals. His first assist came with a pass inside the box, allowing the former Spurs man to find the top corner, and then had a corner headed in by Kane.
Heidenham pulled level after goals from Tim Kleidienst and Jan-Niklas Beste.
However, Raphael Guerreiro, on as a substitute, put the home side back ahead on 72 minutes as he pounced on a rebound for an easy finish. Another substitute, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, then scored in the 85th minute to restore Bayern’s two-goal advantage, which they kept until the end.
Kane has now outscored last season’s highest-scoring goalscorer in the Bundesliga, which was shared by Christopher Nkunku - now at Chelsea - and Borussia Dortmund forward Niclas Fullkrug.
Fullkrug was on target for Dortmund in their game at Stuttgart on Saturday, but goals from Deniz Undav and Serhou Guirassy gave the home side the win. Stuttgart are third, with Dortmund three points behind in fourth.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Darmstadt drew 0-0 at home with Mainz. Mainz sit 16th and Darmstadt a point above in 15th.
Wout Weghorst scored for Hoffenheim in their trip to Augsburg, but Ermedin Demirovic replied shortly after the restart to earn a 1-1 draw. Hoffenheim ended the day in sixth, with Augsburg 10th.
In the evening kick-off, Lukas Daschner scored for Bochum and Davie Selke for the away side Koln as they also drew 1-1. Bochum are 14th while Koln are bottom.
