Good evening everyone, and welcome to Eurosport Yahoo!'s LIVE updates from Ajax's game against AC Milan in Amsterdam.

Ex-Ajax striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who starts for Milan tonight (yes, a theme is emerging): "I am the greatest". Only kidding. "Attack is always the best defence - that is my philosophy," is what he said.

Ex-Ajax midfielder Clarence Seedorf, who starts for Milan tonight: "The strength of Ajax lies in their enthusiasm. There is more to it than looking at that first match in Madrid, where they missed Luis Suarez. We don't look only at their results but at the quality of their team and the motivation they will have playing against sides like AC Milan and Madrid."

A bad omen for Ajax? They have only won one of the last 13 European matches against Italian opposition (1-0 v Fiorentina in February 2009).

If Ajax score four tonight (you never know) it would mean they become just the 14th side to score 100 goals in the Champions League.

Milan have had some relatively lean periods in Europe of late. Since winning the title in 2007 the Rossoneri have not been beyond the last 16 - and in 2008/9 they had to settle for the UEFA Cup.

Martin Jol has led Ajax to the top of the Eredivisie after seven games of the season - and they're unbeaten so far - five wins, two draws. At least for this difficult Champions League outing they can count on the services of Luis Suarez and Jan Vertonghen, both available after serving one game bans.

Last time out AC Milan beat Auxerre 2-0, while Ajax suffered defeat by the same scoreline against Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid.

Most recently the two sides met in the Champions League group stages in 2003. Milan won both games by a single goal. Andrei Shevchenko struck in Amsterdam - and one Pippo Inzaghi, on the bench tonight, scored at the San Siro.

HEAD TO HEAD: These two sides, giants of the European game over the years, have met 10 times in Europe over the years. Marginally (very marginally) Milan have the better record - five wins, one draw, and four defeats.

An interesting choice from Milan, who drop Ronaldinho to the bench in order to accommodate Robinho. Flamini starts his first game since returning from injury.
