Ramires doggedly regains possession for the hosts after FCK get a little too fancy with their passing.

Chelsea do a good job keeping Copenhagen penned back in their own half, and a hopeful long punt upfield drifts out for a home throw.

While the Danes need a miracle to advance at Chelsea's expense tonight, they are having a much better time of things domestically: Copenhagen currently enjoy a 20 point lead in the Danish league while the Blues attempt to catch up to Man United.

Drogba fires from 25 yards after some decent skill but it's straight at Wiland.

John Terry concedes the first corner of the game. Bengtsson takes but Drogba clears from a packed box.

Cole 1-2's with Drogba and runs clear into the box but is unable to move inside as much as he'd like thanks to some heavy marshalling and can only rifle a shot into side netting.

Claudemir fires the set piece straight into the Chelsea wall. Copenhagen attack again from the open play but Chelsea are able to clear.

Lampard casually gives possession away to Vingaard whose run ends when Bosingwa concedes a free-kick 20 yards out.

Mikel brings down fellow probationer N'Doye in the centre circle. Free-kick visitors.

Some decent Copenhagen possession ends with a stray ball from left-back Wendt.

Mikel with a clever ball to free Cole on the left, his low cross picks out Lampard rather easily but the midfield maestro wastefully fumbles it wide from close range.

Boswinga is flagged offside early on while bombing down the right flank. The visitors are wearing a, well, unique bright pink and black away kit tonight. A stark contrast to the home side's traditional blue.

First, a minute's silence is observed (but not by everyone, unfortunately) for those caught up by the disasters in Japan.

The teams are out and we're about to get underway here at Stamford Bridge! Can Copenhagen pull off the upset of the season? Or will Chelsea march onto the quarter finals?

Should Chelsea finish the job as expected in tonight's 2nd leg, they'll guarantee England as the dominant nation in this season's Champions League quarter-finals with three representatives (Man United and Spurs being the other 2). Should the Blues somehow crash out and Real Madrid defeat Lyon tonight, England and Spain will have two each.

Watch out for potential upset threats in the form of Copenhagen's Jesper Gronkjaer, a former Chelsea player himself, and Costa Rican winger Cristian Bolanos, who had trials with Liverpool and Charlton Athletic in the mid-2000s.

Record signing Fernando Torres will have to hope for a cameo appearance from the bench if he is to finally net his first goal in a Chelsea shirt this evening. But with Anelka having 7 CL goals to his name from 6 matches this campaign, it's hard to see the Londoners lacking a goal threat.

Both sides have one player who will miss the quarter-final first leg if they pick up another yellow card tonight: John Obi Mikel for the home team and Dame N'Doye for the visitors.

Complacency could be Chelsea's biggest hurdle tonight, as manager Carlo Ancelotti appeared to be already looking ahead to future opponents in this year's tournament - Barcelona in particular.
