Reigning European champions Internazionale welcome German side Schalke to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Here come the teams to that famous theme tune. Inter in their traditional black and blue while Schalke are in all white.

There's another game tonight - the small matter of Real Madrid against Tottenham.

The winners of this tie will go through to the semi-finals to meet either Manchester United or Chelsea, who play the first leg of their quarter-final at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

This match is a repeat of the 1997 UEFA Cup final, with both games ending as 1-0 home wins and the German side winning the trophy 4-1 on a penalty shoot-out.

For Schalke, Christoph Metzelder, who suffered a broken nose against St Pauli at the weekend, plays no part. And Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is nowhere to be seen either.

So, Diego Milito starts alongside Samuel Eto'o for the Nerazzurri at the expense of Goran Pandev. Otherwise, it's pretty much as expected for Inter, who have Andrea Ranocchia and Cristian Chivu in the middle at the back, with Lucio suspended.

Like Schalke, Inter are hardly setting the world ablaze with their domestic form and Leonardo's side head into this encounter still stinging from a 3-0 defeat to city rivals Milan that left them third and their title hopes hanging by a thread.

Since then, the German side - who are currently lying in 11th in the Bundesliga - have had a change of manager, Ralf Rangnick replacing Felix Magath a week after their victory over Valencia after his predecessor had been fired for "very good reasons".

Schalke's progress wasn't quite as dramatic, the Bundesliga side brushing aside Valencia 3-1 in the second leg and 4-2 on aggregate.

Inter booked their place in the final eight with some late heroics against Bayern Munich in the last 16.
