In keeping with the Italian theme of this evening, I have just devoured a massive plate of pasta to give me energy for what could be a landmark fixture in the Chelsea career of Andre Villas-Boas.

We are just moments from kick-off now. The players are heading out on to the pitch. You can share your thoughts on the match, Villas-Boas's team selection or anything else you like with me via Twitter @tony_mabert.

Chelsea really have a battle on their hands tonight: as well as their poor away form in the Champions League, they're heading to a stadium which has recently been impregnable. The last overseas club to win at the San Paolo was Eintracht Frankfurt in 1994!
19:35
No question as to who is the danger men are for Napoli: Edinson Cavani, who has 16 goals in his last 18 matches, and a playmaker Ezequiel Lavezzi.
19:30
Tonight's ref is Spaniard Carlos Velasco Carballo.
19:25
So, no Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard or Fernando Torres in the starting line-up for the Blues. All three are on the bench, as are Mikel, Essien, Kalou and Turnbull.

Chelsea will be without skipper John Terry today: his knee problem is refusing to go away, and he is set for a long spell out of the game. Shame they couldn't have squeezed a certain court case in while he's recuperating, eh?
19:10
Andre Villas-Boas, who will surely be fired if Chelsea lose to Napoli over two legs, sounds like a gambling addict trying to justify yet bet: "You need an extra mental push to feel that confidence in a different way, it comes with results and at the moment results are not happening so until you get out of that cycle with a win it perpetuates a bit. (We can win) because it's football and sometimes it happens just like that, how you least expect. Napoli is a strong team but we are a strong team."
19:05
Napoli boss is not looking forward to facing a team who are in disarray: "We are in better shape than Chelsea going into this game, but they have champions who are accustomed to playing a certain level of game. On Tuesday they know that they cannot make a mistake, so will become unified and I doubt we’ll be facing a team in crisis."
19:00
Two Blues players need to be particularly careful tonight: David Luiz and Raul Meireles will incur suspensions with their next yellow cards.
18:55
Chelsea aren't good on the road in Europe: they won their group for the fifth time in six seasons without recording a victory on their travels. They drew at Valencia and Genk and lost at Leverkusen.

Chelsea look set to be the last English team in the competition after Arsenal got humiliated last week. But can the Blues beat the side that knocked out Manchester City?
