Guardado keeps a João Pereira cross in play and finds Soldado but his backheel only runs to a defender and BATE clear their lines.

Valencia beat Club Atlético de Madrid 2-0 on Saturday, ending the visitors' 13-match winning run in all competitions. The capital outfit had been unbeaten in 23 games stretching back to April.

Hleb is battling for scraps around the Valencia box, after Rodionov gives it away cheaply. Costa then gets fouled by Dmitri Baga and demands a yellow card but the referee says no.

Bressan should do better from the edge of the box as he fires well wide with his right foot. That was a good chance to test Guaita after Hleb played Bressan in.

Valencia are sitting back for a spell and defending their lead, BATE desperate to strike back quickly.

BATE have a chance to strike back as Renan Bressan lines up a free kick in a good central position, after Gago is yellow carded for a foul on Aleksandr Volodko.

Valencia arguably should not even have one goal so far, Jonas clearly handled when scoring the opener and the second goal came from a penalty which looked dodgy, as the foul came outside the box.

Soldado has now scored 14 goals in his last 13 Champions League starts.

GOAL!!! It is 2-0 already as Valencia skipper Soldado takes the penalty right footed and slips it into the bottom left hand corner.

Immediately Valencia have a chance to make it two as Andres Guardado dives into the box when fouled by Artem Radkov and the referee says penalty.

GOAL!!! Jonas gets away with a handball in the BATE box as he controls the ball and then finishes simply to put the home team ahead.

Both sides are taking quite a physical approach. Now Costa fouls Hleb and then Bordachev crudely trips Soldado and sees yellow.

The replay shows Soldado was touched in the box, though he was already falling when he appealed for that penalty moments ago.

BATE Borisov are building patiently from the back but they lack the cutting edge going forward. Hleb needs to get on the ball more if they are to open Valencia up here.

Valencia are controlling the game through the midfield pinning the visitors back. Soldado goes down softly in the box and the referee waves play on.

BATE Borisov have won just one of their seven Champions League away games but that came on Match Day One this season with a 3-1 win over Lille.
