What a compelling match of football! Barcelona will take a 2-1 lead into the return leg at the Vicente Calderon, although having played nearly an hour with 10 men Atletico Madrid might be the happier of the two sides. They hung on for most of the contest, but they are still in this. The tie is well balanced!

Atletico Madrid still have some defending to do! Barcelona are pressing for this third goal that would make them heavy favourites to progress into the semi-finals of the competition.

Atletico Madrid are employing every time wasting tactic in the book now. Simeone seems quite content with taking this 2-1 scoreline back to the Vicente Calderon for the return leg.

Five minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the second half. There's still time for another goal!

Lucas has been excellent this evening. He is only 20 years old and has only played a couple of Champions League games before. But alongside Godin he has looked solid for the most part.

I've lost track of who has been booked in this match. At this point it would be easier to tell you who hasn't seen a yellow card. The referee has been the busiest man on the pitch.

Turan comes on against his former side. The Turkish international has come in for some criticism recently, and so it's quite a bold move from Enrique to throw him on, especially for Iniesta.

Simeone is pacing around on the touchline. I wonder if he feels a 2-1 defeat would be the best possible outcome for his Atletico Madrid side, or is he targeting an equaliser?

Rather astonishingly, Suarez has scored 45 goals in 45 games for Barcelona this season. He has been the star of the show. In this form you'd have to have him down as a Ballon d'Or contender.

He has had plenty critics this season, but Alves has been excellent this evening. He has been crucial for Barcelona. His crossing has been on point. The Brazilian has still got it, for sure.
