Hello and welcome to Eurosport's live commentary of the Champions League clash between Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk. This is Ryan Bailey (@ryanjaybailey) taking you through all the action from the Stadio Olimpico. Kick off is 19.45, team news to follow shortly.

Shakhtar win the first corner of the evening. Bernard plays it short but it comes to nothing.

Nainggolan picks out a Dzeko run with a through-ball, but the Bosnian is correctly ruled off.

Stepanenko hoofs a ball forward for Ferrerya, but the flag goes up.

That move aside, it's been all Roma attack so far.

Strootman is called up for a fairly cynical foul on Marlos.

The atmosphere is electric in the stadium tonight.

Roma break into the box straight away! Nainggolan cuts the ball back to Dzeko on the edge of the area, whose weak shot is collected by goalkeeper Pyatov.

Spanish Referee Alberto Undiano blowws his whistle and Edin Dzeko gets the ball rolling.

Kick-off is 10 minutes away. It's 11c at the Stadio Olimpico, which will feel positively balmy for the visitors, who would be experiencing -3c if they were in Kharkiv right now.

It's perfect conditions for some soccerball!

Shakhtar still boast diminutive midfielder Bernard. Remember Bernard? He was suppose to light up the 2014 World Cup... but he probably doesn't like to talk about that experience.

He's been loyal to Shakhtar since leaving Atletico Mineiro in 2013, but the 25-year-old could be on the move this summer.

This game has a distinctly South American feel. Shakhtar is something of a haven for Brazilian talent, and they boast six of them tonight, plus Argentine forward Ferrerya.

Roma have four Brazilians of their own, plus two Argentines (Fazio and Perotti).

Shakhtar have won 15 of the 19 continental ties in which they were victorious in the home first leg.

However, the Pitmen have also lost seven of their last 10 visits to Italy.

Roma are currently third in Serie A, three points clear of their roommates Lazio.

They come into this game off the back of big wins over Napoli and Torino, however, they have lost five of their last seven at the Stadio Olimpico.

Shakhtar recommenced league play on February 16th and have won the five games since by an aggregate score of 20-1.

Depsite playing 700 miles away from their Donbass Arena home since 2014, they are six points clear at the top of the league.

Newcastle flop Ferrerya is having his moment in the sun...

Roma and Shakhtar have faced each other five times. The Ukrainians have won four of those meetings and lost one.

The last time the two sides met at the Round of 16 phase was 2010-11, when Shakhtar progressed to a quarter-final meeting with Barcelona, thanks to a 6-2 aggregate victory.

Shakhtar earned a 2-1 win in the first leg in Kharkiv, with Ferreyra and Fred cancelling out Cengiz Under's opener.

A 1-0 win will do it for Eusebio Di Francesco's side, who have won their last two home games in the competition.
