Can Barca's front three fire? Compared to his usual super-human efforts, Messi's goal return last season was not anything particularly special, having scored just six goals from 10 appearances on the continent. However, normal service has been resumed this season in La Liga, with Messi sitting atop the scoring charts as Barca have picked up four wins from four so far. Ousmane Dembele has as many [three] goals already this season as he managed in a injury-ravaged campaign in 2017/18, the same as two-time Golden Boot winner Luis Suarez. Both will have to improve on their solitary strikes in last season's Champions League if Barca are to go all the way. First step is getting up and running with a win tonight, but it will not be easy against an in form PSV! We are minutes away!

DUTCH COURAGE NEEDED: PSV have not won any of their last eight matches in the Champions League (D4 L4), the longest current run among the sides competing in this seasons competition (also Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, Club Brugge). Also, PSV have won just one of their last 16 away matches in the Champions League (D4 L11), a 1-0 win in Russia against CSKA Moscow under manager Jan Wouters back in November 2007.

Time to knock their great rivals off their perch?

HEAD TO HEAD: Barcelona will meet PSV Eindhoven for the first time since two 2-2 draws during the group stages of the 1997/98 Champions League campaign. This will be the seventh overall meeting between Barcelona and PSV, with the Catalans having lost just one of the previous encounters (W2 D3); a 0-3 defeat in the 1977/78 UEFA Cup semi-final first leg in Holland. PSV have never won away from home at Barcelona in European competition, losing one and drawing two of their three previous trips.

BIG GUNS ARE BACK! Sergio Busquets and Philippe Coutinho, who both sat out of Barcelona's weekend victory over Real Sociedad, return to the starting XI, as they are at full strength for this Group B opener. Nelson Semedo and Rafinha drop to the bench.
A DUTCH OF CLASS! PSV smashed ADO Den Haag 7-0 in their Eredivisie fixture at the weekend, and name the same XI from that fixture.
