Matvyenko cuts in from the right and teases a lovely pass towards the run of Moraes, who ghosts into the area but sees his low drive flash straight at Ederson.

Guardiola on David Silva: "It was always a problem to play against him. He is one of the most incredible players in the world playing in the pockets, in the small spaces between some players. We try to attack, to move in small spaces. Few players in the world can do that and he is a master. He plays football better than the other ones so to survive against physical teams, a footballer plays with the ball. He moves in a more intelligent way."

In fact, no Ukrainian side has ever won on these shores in 28 trips to England. There have been just six draws, with Dynamo Kiev the last team to avoid a loss when they held City to a 0-0 draw in March 2016.

Kyle Walker on Raheem Sterling: "He's been a joy to work with; a pleasure to play behind him. I said to him to play with a smile on your face. Everyone can help him. He's reaching levels he can do."

Pep Guardiola: "Every game is important, and you have to evaluate. Shakhtar is the most important because it's the first one. After dropping points against Lyon every game is a final. We have a chance to step into next round, then we have three or four days to think about Manchester United."
