Shaparenko fires a last-minute free-kick just wide but Juventus start their Champions League campaign with a win and it's a satisfying evening for Andrea Pirlo. Juventus were not at their sparkling best, though, and Cristiano Ronaldo was sorely missed. Nevertheless Juve will be happy to taking home all three points ahead of their mouthwatering clash against Barcelona in matchday 2.
GOOD SAVE! From Szczesny to deny Sydorchuk's swerving low effort from 25-yards out! Juve's number one has had a solid game.
THREE of added time.
- OffVitaliy BuyalskyiDynamo Kiev
- OnDenys GarmashDynamo Kiev
SUB! Garmash is on for Buyalskyy.
- GoalÁlvaro MorataJuventus
GOAL! Morata scores again with a nice finish to surely seal all three points for Juve! It's a fantastic cross from Cuadrado down the right and he nods in on the run! Surely all over now.
- OffRodrigo BentancurJuventus
SUB! Arthur is on for Bentancur.
Rodrigues sprints down the right and wins a corner off Danilo. The Kiev crowd roar their side on. They sense opportunity here. The corner swung out is headed clear to the edge of the box. Sydorchuk hits it on the half volley but Szczesny catches the bouncing effort.
OVER! Cuadrado down the right pegs the ball back for Ramsey but he fires first-time well over the crossbar.
- OffViktor TsyhankovDynamo Kiev
- OnBenjamin VerbicDynamo Kiev
SUBS! Dynamo are switching things up. Popov and Verbic are on for Karavaev and Tsygankov.
We're now at a snails pace. Can Kiev find a way to get a goal? They are struggling to even construct any attacking moves.
Juventus are slowly passing inside their own half. The Kiev fans are growing restless with Juve seemingly content to preserve their one goal lead for now.
SUB! De Pena comes off for Luxembourg international Gerson Rodrigues.
Aside from the goal it has not been a particularly enthralling second half so far. Morata's goal is the difference but Pirlo will be expecting more from his side against Dynamo who seem happy to soak up any pressure that comes their way in their rigid 4-1-4-1 shape.
- OffDejan KulusevskiJuventus
- OnPaulo DybalaJuventus
SUB! Dybala is on for Kulusevski. Not the worst of subs...
- Yellow cardJuan CuadradoJuventus
YELLOW! For Cuadrado after a poor sliding challenge which catches Karavaev.
- GoalÁlvaro MorataJuventus
GOAL! Just 50 seconds into the second half and Juventus lead! Chisea passes to Ramsey who flicks it back to Kulusevki, his placed shot on the edge of the box is parried by Buschan straight out to Morata who fires into the roof of the net from point-blank range. Juventus lead!
- 2nd Half
HALF-TIME! Goalless at the break. Not a classic so far. Juventus are edging it but plenty for Pirlo to ponder.
Tsygankov whips the free-kick in between the two-man wall but Szczesny gets his body behind it and claims.
- Yellow cardRodrigo BentancurJuventus
YELLOW! The first of the evening and it goes to Bentancur after he hauls down Shaparenko on the edge of the box.
Juventus are playing OK at the moment but Kiev are holding firm. Pirlo may look to make a substitution or two at the break.
A very ambitious effort from De Pena. He thought he saw Szczesny off his line and has a go from just in front of the halfway line, but the Polish goalkeeper was really not that far off and catches it.
SAVE! A great stop from Bushchan! Ramsey does brilliantly to get around Zabarnyi before firing a low cross to the near post from the byline which Kulusevski flicks on goal, but Buschan gets down low to keep it out!
Rabiot is set free inside the box by Ramsey. He fires a low cross into the box but Sydorchuk makes a timely slide to stop what looked destined to become a goal.
Cuadrado fires a low cross deep towards the far post but Bushchan punches it away.
Juventus are the side dominating possession now but Kiev have done well so far in preventing the Juve wingbacks from being afforded any time or space. The Ukrainian champions will be far happier side at the moment.
Juventus have another corner and Chiesa takes, hitting it deep to the far post, but this time Bushchan punches it away.
- OffGiorgio ChielliniJuventus
- OnMerih DemiralJuventus
SUB! Well... not even 20 minutes played and Chiellini's evening is over. He pulls up with a hamstring injury and Bonucci takes the captains armband. Demiral will take his place.
Chiesa again engineers some space down the left. He cuts onto his right foot and curls a shot on goal, but this time it veers just wide. The 22-year-old has easily been Juventus' biggest threat so far.
Chiesa breaks free down the left flank and drives his shot low aiming for Buschan's left corner, but the Ukrainian makes a strong left-handed save and bats behind for the first corner of the evening.
The set-piece goes out for another corner. Bushchan flaps at it and Chiellini heads just wide at the far post! I don't think Juve's captain expected to get an opportunity there!
Kiev are playing pretty well here with Juve not doing a great deal. Pirlo will want greater urgency from his side as they're seemingly going through the motions right now.
Szczesny storms almost out of his own penalty box but drops the ball as he jumps up to claim it! A moment of hesitancy from the Polish goalkeeper but fortunately for him no repercussions.
Kiev are knocking the ball around relatively comfortably with Juventus happy to sit deep and not press until the Ukrainian champions enter their half. It's a different Juve side to the team they usually field with Aaron Ramsey playing as a number ten behind Morata and Kulusevski.
A free-kick swung into the box from Kulusevki lands straight into the arms of Bushchan in goal. A slow start to this one.
- 1st Half
We are underway in Ukraine! Dynamo Kiev in white and blue and Juventus in orange. But the big news is there is an actual real-life crowd in attendance this evening!
Interesting fact: In the two seasons Juventus have met Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League (97/98 and 02/03) the Serie A side reached the final.
Juventus have not won the Champions League since 1996 and when you consider their investment in the last three years, the pressure is on for new boss Andrea Pirlo to deliver the trophy this campaign. But Group G is tough with Barcelona also in there - they play Hungarian side Ferencvaros tonight.
Bayern Munich to win the whole thing? Or will it finally be time for PSG? How about top scorer, it has to be Robert Lewandowski doesn’t it? Or does it? The whole of the Eurosport network have had their say on the big Champions League questions 👇
Pirlo and Co are in the building.
NO RONALDO TONIGHT The Portuguese star is missing because he is self-isolating having returned a positive test for Covid-19 while on international duty last week. He is reportedly not displaying any symptoms.
