With Laporte and Ruben Dias the obvious candiates to anchor City's defence, John Stones has recently been deployed as a right-back by Guardiola.
He featured in the full-back position in their 2-0 win at home v Brentford, and is called upon tonight with England compatiot Kyle Walker suspended.
"He can play there and help us in the set-pieces," Guardiola said in his pre-match press duties.

John Stones is deployed at right-back replacing Kyle Walker, as Joao Cancelo comes in for Oleksandr Zinchenko on the opposite flank. Nathan Ake makes way for Aymeric Laporte.
In a much changed midfield, Rodri and Keven De Bruyne come in for Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho.
Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling keep their place and lead the City line.
