Manchester City are in sensational form as they close out the season. Guardiola's side last lost a match in any competition on February 5th (Spurs 1-0) and since then they have played 22 matches, won 18 and drawn the other four.

For Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, the UEFA Champions League is the one they want. Guardiola’s tenure at Man City has been littered with success, he has won four (likely soon to be five) Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and an FA Cup but the UCL still evades City. Guardiola will be eager to win the trophy soon having last won the competition during his time with FC Barcelona back in 2010/11.

In contrast, their opponents tonight are the kings of Europe. Real Madrid have won just three La Liga titles in the last 10 years but have won five Champions League titles during that time.

Erling Haaland comes into this clash as the top goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League with 12 goals, four more than Mohamed Salah in second.

The Norweigan hitman has 35 goals in the UEFA Champions League in his career to date and you can expect that number to rapidly rise in the coming years.

Vinicius Junior will be looking to continue his tremendous form in the UEFA Champions League and fire his side into the final. The Brazilian is Real Madrid's top scorer in the competition with seven goals and he is also the best creator with five assists.

In all competitions he has nine assists and four goals in his last 11 matches!

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke about the need for courage in tonight’s match during his pre-match press conference.

“Courage is a fundamental element in this type of match. On an individual level, the two teams are evenly matched, but courage makes the difference in a game like this, where you have to know how to hold on and fight.”

“I don't think it's going to be too different to the first leg, but you're going to see some tweaks from City and Madrid. There are things we can improve on from last week and they can too. But we're not going to see such a different game to the first leg. City have the best team in Europe right now and I'm sure it will be a thrilling game with plenty of excitement.”

Pep Guardiola has received criticism in the past in the media for ‘overthinking’ before big ties, such as the UEFA Champions League final against Chelsea, but the Spaniard confirmed there will be no drastic changes for tonight’s semi-final against Real Madrid.

“Hopefully you can see tomorrow,” he said in regards to how City will perform better. “Nothing special. I’m not overthinking, don’t worry guys, nothing different to what we’ve done, just more fluid and play a bit better".
