Leandro Trossard rescued a 2-2 first leg draw for Arsenal against Bayern Munich in an absorbing UEFA Champions League quarter-final. Bukayo Saka scored early before Serge Gnabry levelled shortly afterwards. Bayern moved ahead through a Harry Kane penalty as he continued his fine goalscoring run against Arsenal. Trossard's equaliser makes things interesting for the second leg in Germany next week.

Arsenal and Bayern Munich served up an epic 2-2 UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw at the Emirates as home substitute Leandro Trossard struck late on to earn the Premier League leaders a breathless draw.
Bukayo Saka swerved home a brilliant opener on 12 minutes for the home side before the struggling German champions – who are 16 points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga – hit back strongly as Serge Gnabry punished some poor defending to equalise with an opportunistic finish on 18 minutes.
And Thomas Tuchel's side moved ahead in the tie when England captain Harry Kane coolly converted a penalty upon his return to North London on 32 minutes after Leroy Sane was sent spinning to the deck by William Saliba after a brilliant surging run.
Tottenham icon Kane has now scored 15 goals in 20 matches against Arsenal, and is the leading goalscorer against the Gunners at the Emirates, scoring six times since the stadium opened in 2006.
Bayern looked in command ahead of the second leg in Munich next Wednesday, but Mikel Arteta's side rescued a battling draw on 76 minutes when Trossard accepted an excellent pass from fellow substitute Gabriel Jesus to drive the ball low and hard into the net.
The tie is well in the balance with the winners meeting Real Madrid or holders Manchester City – who shared six goals in a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu – in the last four.

Talking Point: Should Arsenal have had a late penalty?

TNT Sports pundits Martin Keown and Rio Ferdinand believe Bukayo Saka was taken out of the action late by Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer in the dying seconds of added time.
"That is a penalty," said Ferdinand. "How has that not been given? I can't believe that has not been given. I'm walking about in disbelief."
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown agreed, and commented: "For me that's a penalty all day long."
Amid the hectic conclusion, when you study the footage closely, you would have to suggest there is enough doubt to understand why VAR opted against awarding the penalty with Saka appearing to throw his right leg against the right knee of Neuer as he raced from his goal before going to ground.
Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg had a fine match, and probably called the decision correctly with VAR endorsing the initial inspection to leave the tie finely poised before next week's return leg.

Player of the Match - Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich)

The former Manchester City winger produced an electrifying performance as he tormented the home defence throughout the evening during a series of menacing counter attacks. Gave Jakub Kiwior the slip as his wonderful run earned his side a penalty that Kane converted with Martin Odegaard forced to race back from deep in the visiting half to deny him moments later.
