Arsenal v Porto live - Champions League latest as tie moves into extra time

David Raya was the hero, saving two Porto penalties as Arsenal scored four from four to progress into the last eight of the Champions League for the first time in 14 years – at the end of a terrific tie.

Porto were worthy foes, Leandro Trossard’s goal which levelled the aggregate score the only one they conceded in 210 minutes of football. And what a goal it was, beautifully instigated by Martin Odegaard and finished superbly, just as the visitors looked set to make it to half-time still in front.

But though they could not, they defended superbly and attacked in numbers, limiting Arsenal to few chances after the break. Odegaard did get the ball in the net with a lovely deft wedge, but VAR revealed the ball broke to him following Kai Havertz’s foul on Pepe.

Arsenal struggled to gather momentum thereafter, and extra time was a scrappy affair, Mikel Arteta sending attackers on as his players looked to avoid defeat. But when penalties came, Odegaard, Havertz, Saka and Rice confidently despatched, while Raya saved from Wendell and Galeno.

So Arsenal, already top of the Premier League, are into the last eight of the Champions League – and will be starting to wonder where this season might end.

Costa dives the wrong way, and Porto must score to stay in it!

Again, Raya guesses right and the shot isn't in the corner. He gets fingers to it, but there's just enough power to take it in.

Pressure, but Saka buries it! He freezes Costa, then pujnches into the side-nettiong, halfway up.

Wendell smacks right, Raya guesses right, tips it onto the post and it hits him so doesn't go back in! Advantage Arsenal!

A pause, Costa dives right and he taps left.

Boos and whistles, a stutter, and a similar penalty to Odegaard's just taken right-footed not left.

A stutter early dorrs then a sweep right as the keeper goes left.

Then Raya noises up the crowd. Here comes Odegaard...

Pepe and Odegaard cuddle, then Arsenal win the end, Odegaard indicating, and also the toss to go first. That seoncd aspect delivers victory significantly more than 50% of the time.

David Raya less so. It almost feels like intimidation verus agility.

The ref blows, and penalties it is! This has been a fantastic tie and these teams have looked very well-matched, so that feels a fair outcome.

Arteta slows them down when they want to pump it in, they go short and...

Ally says what I meant to post earlier: Ramsdale is the kind of keeper who saves penalties, the kind of keeper things hit. I doubt Artetz makes a change, because this is the kind of thing that's very easy to say, but I'm not not thinking it.
