Gabriel Martinelli scored on his Champions League debut as Arsenal returned to the top of Group B with a win against Sevilla. Gabriel Jesus was also on target for the Gunners, while Harry Maguire was on the scoresheet for Manchester United who secured a dramatic win. Harry Kane scored in Bayern Munich’s win in Turkey and Jude Bellingham struck Real Madrid to a third successive victory.

LIFT-OFF FOR MAN UTD AS MAGUIRE AND HEROIC ONANA EARN REDS FIRST WIN

After back-to-back opening defeats for Manchester United, the club were desperate for their first win in the competition as their chances of qualification quickly diminished.
One goal separated the sides on the night, and it came from an unlikely source.
Harry Maguire, who has so often been out-of-favour under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, capitalised on his chance in the side following a mini-injury crisis to head United ahead on an emotional night for the club.
The centre-back put United ahead with less than 20 minutes on the clock but there was a heart-wrenching moment for those inside Old Trafford when Scott McTominay conceded a penalty with seconds left to play.
The Scotland midfielder raised a high boot to win a desperate ball that Mohamed Elyounoussi had lined up to thump from three yards out.
Jordan Larsson placed the ball on the spot in the 97th minute, but Andre Onana guessed right to keep his effort out and confirm United’s first win in Europe this season.

BELLINGHAM SCORES AGAIN AS MADRID EDGE BRAGA

Jude Bellingham scored his third goal in as many Champions League games to give Real Madrid their third Group C win on the bounce against Braga.
The England midfielder put Madrid two goals ahead after Rodrygo’s first-half opener, with the young Brazilian confirming his spot as the club’s fifth all-time top goalscorer in the competition.
Spanish winger Alvaro Djalo pulled a goal back for the hosts, but the damage was already done.

BRAZILIAN BOYS COMBINE FOR ARSENAL AS MARTINELLI STARS ON DEBUT

Arsenal redeemed themselves following the defeat to Lens in France last time out by beating Sevilla 2-1 in a cauldron-like atmosphere in Spain to return to the top of Group B.
On the stroke of half-time and with the score level, Arsenal deployed a scintillating end-to-end move which saw Gabriel Jesus spin his defender inside his own half before setting Gabriel Martinelli through on goal.
Martinelli, on his Champions League debut, drove into the box and held off pressure from four-time winner Sergio Ramos before rounding Orjan Nyland and slotting into an empty net.
Arsenal shot out of the blocks in the second half in search of a quick second as they tried to avoid a repeat of what happened in the loss against Lens, and they found one.
Jesus weaved his way into the Sevilla box, cut inside on his right foot and curled a delicate effort across the face of goal, over Nyland and into the far top corner.
It wasn’t all straightforward for the Gunners, though, as Nemanja Gudelj headed a goal back for Sevilla on the hour mark.
But Mikel Arteta's side, with their backs against the wall for the closing stages, held on to complete the perfect away performance and earn a valuable three points.

BAYERN MUNICH STAY PERFECT WITH VICTORY IN TURKEY

Harry Kane scored his 11th goal in 12 games for Bayern Munich as the German Champions beat Galatasaray 3-1 to continue their perfect start to the Champions League campaign.
An unmarked Kingsley Coman slotted Bayern into an early lead before Mauro Icardo levelled matters with an exquisite panenka finish from the spot on the half-hour mark.
With time running out for Thomas Tuchel’s side, Kane popped up in the box to poke the ball beyond Fernando Muserla at the second attempt from close range to continue his impressive start to life at his new club.
Jamal Musiala, who set up Kane for the goal that put Bayern ahead, was on the receiving end of a Kane through ball before the 20-year-old sealed victory with a third.
The result confirms a third-straight win for Bayern, who already sit five points clear at the top of Group A.

NAPOLI STAY WITHIN TOUCHING DISTANCE OF MADRID

In the same group, Giacomo Raspadori bagged for Italian champions Napoli as they beat Union Berlin 1-0 away from home.
The result means they stay second in the table, three points behind Real Madrid.
Napoli face Union in their next game before a huge game against Madrid in Spain, where they’ll look to avenge the narrow defeat they suffered to Carlo Ancelotti's side earlier in the competition.

SANCHEZ BACK IN THE GOALS AS INTER WIN IN SALZBURG

In Group D, Inter Milan beat RB Salzburg 2-1 at the San Siro to claim their second successive victory in Europe.
Alexis Sanchez was back on the scoresheet for Inter in Europe when he put Simone Inzaghi’s side ahead inside 20 minutes.
Oscar Gloukh pulled a goal back for Salzburg after nearly an hour, but honours would only be even for seven minutes.
Davide Frattesi was hauled down in the box and Hakan Calhanoglu stepped up to convert from the spot, drilling the ball into the bottom corner.

HONOURS EVEN BETWEEN LENS AND PSV

It turned out to be a good night for Arsenal, with all the teams around them dropping points in Group B.
Lens remain unbeaten, though, after a 1-1 draw against PSV, who are still without a win and have dropped to the bottom of the table.
Johan Bakayoko put PSV ahead in the second half, but forward Elye Wahi quickly hit back for Lens.
Halfway through the group stages, underdogs Lens are in second place and just a point behind Arsenal, with work to do for Sevilla and PSV if they are to qualify for the knockouts.

UNBEATEN SOCIEDAD STAY TOP

Victory against Benfica keeps Real Sociedad above Inter Milan in Group D.
Brias Mendez scored the only goal of the game, striking in the 63rd minute as Benfica's troubles continued.
The Portuguese outfit have lost all three matches so far, and unsurprisingly, sit bottom of the group.
