The UEFA Champions League group stage has now concluded, with Manchester City and Arsenal the two remaining British representatives in the competition.
This comes after Manchester United's disastrous exit at the first hurdle, alongside Newcastle's much more respectable departure in a so-called 'group of death' that saw Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain qualify.
Scottish champions Celtic also exited the competition with a whimper after finishing bottom of Group E, but they ended with a flourish after a 2-1 win over Feyenoord.
City were one of two clubs to progress with a 100 per cent record, easing their way past RB Leipzig, Young Boys and Crvena Zvezda.
Real Madrid also won all six of their group stage fixtures against Napoli, Sporting Braga and Union Berlin respectively, sealing their place in the competition’s knockout stages for a 26th consecutive season.
Meanwhile, the Gunners made relatively light work of Group B, topping the standings with four wins from six games.
