Man City are popping the ball about their defensive line with no real urgency as of yet.

It's also worth noting that Man City have lost their last two Community Shield encounters with a 1-0 reversal against Leicester in 2021 and a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last year.

Guardiola has already suggested they are slightly undercooked coming out of pre-season, so could Arteta and co give themselves a timely boost here today?

It looks like a 4-3-3 for Arsenal with Kai Havertz through the middle as a result of Jesus' absence. Timber is set to play at left back with Rice alongside Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard.

City could well operate in a 4-1-2-1-2 set up with Bernardo Silva in-behind Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

Kovacic could well figure on the right of the midfield diamond.
