Rodriguez breaks to the byline after good play with Gabi and squares the cut back to Cerci, who is caught on his heels. The Italian striker fails to control the pass and the chance is gone.

L'Hospitalet sub: Ivan Hammouch OFF, Peque ON.

Atletico Madrid have the ball in the net but it has been ruled off for offside! I think it was Griezmann at the back post who had strayed beyond the last man before a shot was bundled home.

Cerci is threaded through on goal, but the pass is just a little too strong for the Italian striker and Oliver comes off his line to smother the shot from the Atletico Madrid player.

Off the line from L'Hopsitalet! Gimenez was the Atletico Madrid player that threw himself at the ball from a corner kick, but the home side clear their lines just in the nick of time.

Off the crossbar! Griezmann attempts a cross into the box looking for teammate Cerci, but the Frenchman's driven cross ends up clipping off the woddwork with Oliver beaten in goals.

Simeone has made a change at the break, with Griezmann coming on for Saul. That should give the away side more pace and a bit more invention and around the penalty area.

The second half is under way! It's still 0-0 between L'Hospitalet and Atletico Madrid.

HALF TIME: L'Hospitalet 0-0 Atletico Madrid. That has been a frustrating opening 45 minutes for the Liga champions, with Rodriguez firing off a shot right at the end of the half.

One minute of stoppage time to be played.

L'Hospitalet are taking the opportunity to slow down the pace of the game and see out the first half to the break. Both sides seem to be waiting for the referee's whistle now.
43'
Some of Atletico's play has been quite tidy, and they have still been the better team, but I suspect Simeone is more irritated by their performance than he is letting on at the side of the pitch.
42'
Cerci now seems to have moved into a more central position, with Jimenez out on the right wing now. That might suit the Italian striker slightly better, who has been used as a winger at times this season.
41'
His team hasn't played particularly well but Simeone looks reasonably content on the touchline. He's standing in the rain but is quite happy just observing his team's play tonight.

Right on cue Cerci creates something out of nothing, skipping inside off the right wing to fire off a left-footed shot at goal, but his powerful effort flashes just past the far post.
38'
Cerci is struggling to get involved in the game. He impressed when he came on against Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend, but he hasn't done much tonight. He needs to make an impression.
37'
The home side look organised at the back and are comfortable on the ball, but they don't carry much of a threat going forward. They don't have the pace or quality to threaten Atletico.
36'
Atletico Madrid's play in the final third is looking fairly disjointed, which isn't entirely surprising given that up front are three players who have never played together before.
35'
How about this for a quirk of the tie? Hammouch, who has just been booked for tripping Siqueira on the left wing, is actually the sporting director of the home team. And he's playing tonight.
