Former Germany defender Hans-Peter Briegel has agreed to become the next coach of the Albanian national team, German sports news agency SID said on Thursday.

"We have reached a verbal agreement," said Briegel who
played for 72 times for Germany between 1979 and 1986, including
the 1982 and 1986 World Cup finals.
The previous coach, Italian Giuseppe Dossena, resigned in
November after four months in charge becuase he was unhappy at
media criticism he was receiving.
Briegel, 47, who played for most of his career at
Kaiserslautern and is currently the club's vice chairman, had
previously said the talks were on the verge of failure.
He will sign a contract in the next few days before taking
charge of the team, who have one point from two Euro 2004
qualifiers so far and next host Russia on March 29.
