Adams would love to have that opportunity again. His strike was heading on target but it lacked real power and allowed Stones to get his body in the way.

CLOSE! Che Adams sees a low shot from the right side of the area well blocked by Stones after a slick move down the flank saw Stephen O'Donnell pull the ball back into the forward's path.

What a noise. Football with fans is SO good. You'd think Wembley was a full sell-out. So much passion emanating from the stands.

There's been a foul inside 10 seconds there! Dykes flattens Shaw with an over-zealous jump in the air. This could be a feisty one.

Calm, cool and collected - but the players are emerging from the tunnel now and there are bound to be some butterflies on both sides. It's time for the anthems and then battle will commence!

John McGinn: “Is Wembley the perfect game to bounce back with? You could say that. The whole occasion on Monday (ending a 23-year wait to reach a major tournament) is what we've dreamed about since we were young. But there was a wee feeling we've let the nation down because we wanted a positive result. But the breaks didn't go for us. Having analysed it, it definitely could have gone our way, so the confidence is still there.”

H2H: England have won seven of the last nine meetings but in their most recent showdown the Three Lions needed Harry Kane to rescue a last-gasp 2-2 draw in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park in June 2017.

This is the first time England and Scotland have met in a major tournament since Euro 96. You've no doubt seen plenty of replays of that Paul Gascoigne wonder goal as England won 2-0, but it's actually 25 years to the day since arguably the Three Lions' finest showing at that tournament. The 4-1 victory over Holland was achieved by a quite brilliant team performance.

Andy Robertson: "I think we're probably respected more now because we've qualified for a tournament but we're still not as respected as much as we would all like. A chance to play against England is a chance to show people that doubt Scottish football what we can do. We gave them a tough game in 2017 and we'll need the same performance levels as that night."

Gareth Southgate: "For the fans and us it is a big occasion but it is another opportunity for three points and our objective is qualification. That is what we have got to focus on. In the past we have done that very well. We did that on Sunday (versus Croatia) which was a big occasion for everyone and we handled it very well."

GROUP D RESULT: The Czech Republic have just drawn 1-1 with Croatia at Hampden Park.
The result means England will be guaranteed a top-two finish if the Three Lions win tonight. In contrast, Scotland will only be able to finish as high as third if they lose at Wembley, so the stakes are high tonight!

Steve Clarke: “The objective when we started this tournament was to get enough points to get out of the group stage and into the knockout stage for the first time and we still have that in front of us. So we hope to get something out of the game against England and also we have to get something from the game against Croatia as well. So we look forward to the next two games."

Scotland have opted for an exciting line up with four changes from their 2-0 defeat to the Czech Republic. Kieran Tierney is back from injury and will feature as part of a back three. There’s also a full debut for Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour in midfield while Callum McGregor also starts. Che Adams comes into the attack after looking sharp as a substitute against the Czechs.

England have made two changes from the side that beat Croatia with Reece James replacing Kyle Walker at right back and Luke Shaw coming in at left back for Kieran Trippier.
