FT! Italy 2-1 Azerbaijan. Not a great performance from Italy, but a night Chiellini will not forget. The Azzuri deserve their win, but they suffered a big scare in Sicily.

Italy have chances to close it our as Zaza slashes a shot well over before Giovinco hits the bar with a swerving strike from the edge of the area. Still 2-1.

Can Azerbaijan make one more chance?

A final change for Azerbaijan as Nadirov comes on for Amirguliev.

The ball is in the net again for Italy, but Immobile's stike is ruled out after pressure on the goalkeeper from Zaza.

Yellow card for Sadygov, who hacks downs Immobile after being outpaced by the striker.

Amid the madness, Giovinco has come on for Florenzi.

Azerbaijan won a corner after Nazarov's powerful run forward. Buffon fails to come for the ball in and a scramble for the ball ends with Chiellini knocking it into his own net.

Will we see Pelle before the night is out? His threat in the air would have posed Azerbaijan a lot of problems.

Noise at last as Pirlo is withdrawn and replaced by Aquilani. Italian fans are just happy to still have Pirlo around. He's still a wonderful player.

While Berti Vogts side have been one-dimensional, there has been plenty to admire about their shape and work-rate. If they somehow could draw it would be a simply incredible result.

It's still 1-0 with just 20 minutes to play. Will Azerbaijan start to attack?

Zaza really should score! Darmien wins the ball back, with what looks like a foul. The full-back plays a one-two with Pirlo before driving the ball across to the near post, where Zaza connects but side-foots wide.

Azerbaijan force Buffon to make a save. Huseynov's long-range shot was probably going wide, but it was a positive run forward and a reminder that a clean-sheet is not totally inevitable.

Zaza has picked up a handsome black eye during the game. Perhaps a consequence of his numerous overhead kicks.

The initial corner is cleared to the edge of the box and then played back in towards Zaza. The striker tries an overhead kick, again, but this time it's blocked.
